Walt Anderson Resigns Position of Big XII Coordinator of Officials

Bowlsby confirmed that he has resigned to work full time with the NFL.

Speaking at Big 12 spring meetings in Arizona on Wednesday afternoon, Commissioner Bob Bowlsby confirmed that the conference’s Coordinator of Football Officials Walt Anderson has submitted his resignation and will no longer be involved with the league. A replacement is expected to be found over the coming months and announced later this summer.

On the one hand that seems like good news. On the other hand I am not buoyed by the thought that Bowlsby will be choosing the replacement. As bad as he was, I think that there are a lot of equally bad officials in this league who would love to have the job.

Agreed. Miss the call, it sucks but it happens - but to throw the flag and have the referee overturn him and coerce him into picking up the flag (again) after throwing the flag (again) is inexcusable.
