I know we lost to okie state on the road this week (who keep in mind knocked off ku in phog). And the game was one that we should have won (won't go into detail on my frustration), but we beat baylor to finish with a decent week. Did we really lose all of our votes in both polls because of another loss? I see other teams with 6 losses getting votes who in my opinion are nowhere near the caliber of this team that is a 6 loss team. I just hope by the end of the month the voters see how this team does deserve to be a top 30 team.

We didn't deserve to get any votes. However, win tonight and Saturday and we'll be knocking on the door.

My prediction: ISU will be ranked #25 next week after winning tonight and Saturday in Manhattan A loss the next Wednesday at Texas will end the Top 25 ranking.

I finally got around to looking at the rankings...

I couldn't care less that we don't have any votes in either, but a general observation is that there seems to be a big discrepancy between the coaches' and AP polls...especially beyond the top 20. To me, this is a sign of how much parity there is in that 20-40 range. If you look at conference standings, you see the same pattern; there are one or two standout teams at the top, then a bunch of teams in the upper-middle ranks that are pretty even with each other.

Plus--and this is the exciting part--any one of those upper-middle teams is capable of knocking off the big dogs at any time. Seth Greenberg has been saying lately that every one of the top teams has at least one exploitable weakness and can be taken down. I think this tournament is going to be one of the most wide-open ever; I'll probably use a coin toss to fill out most of my bracket, and I can't wait.
