any other vikings fans out there, should childress make the move back to jackson after frerrote's recent struggles and lack of decision makings abilities? Just wondering how vikings fans on here were feeling, and if they were as sick of gus playing terrible as of late.

Still sick of T-Jack and his inability to make plays. Ya Gus makes his mistakes, but at least he can make plays on the field.

please god no ... I only have Ferrotte and Delhomme on my fastasy team and Ferrotte has at least kept me playoff bound.

Gus has been taking some hits and getting up pretty slow the last few games, so there may be no choice but to play T-Jack eventually. On the bright side, T-Jack has some experience if he's called upon.

IMO, Gus should be the guy b/c they continue to win with Gus and he's earned it. Even though he's made some mistakes and thrown some pics the last few games, he's still able to make those throws that T-Jack couldn't, so that's why he's the guy. You don't need an elusive, running quarterback when you've got AP in the backfield - you need a guy that can stretch the defense with his arm.

Frerotte is 6-3 as a starter. T-Jack is 0-2.

IMHO, Unless Frerotte goes down, he starts.

wasnt this a thread like 3 weeks ago and got shot down!? T-Jack is not the answer, stick with Ferrotte, he is 6-3 and not losing the games for us.

To which plays were you referring? Specifically from yesterday's game. Gus is putting up similar numbers to what T-Jack did last year. I will give you the fact that initially, Gus provided a spark. However, since the bye week he has been nothing special at all, has shown no ability to make plays on the field, and is performing no better than T-Jack has demonstrated he can perform as well. You can make the argument that T-Jack doesn't make plays, and that's one thing, but Gus has shown nothing recently. The Vikes get by on the back of number 28 and that defense. They have been succeeding recently in spite of Gus.

Now, with all that said, I think they should stick with Gus.

T-Jack at this point should not even hold the clip board. He just be resigned to the practice squad so this topic never comes up and no one thinks he should be the answer for next season. I don't want to ever see him under center for the Vikings again, not even in the Victory Formation.

He is the QB and the team is finding ways to win games. That's enough for me.

I would submit that it is not Gus that is finding ways to win.

He deserves as much credit for the wins as someone like Visanthe Shiancoe does. Yes, he is part of the process, but the he does as much to **** things up as he does to help the team succeed.

Here's their stats thus far...

Frerotte 155-266 1877 Yards 11TD's 12 INT's. 18 carries for 6 yards and 2 fumbles. Sacked 26 times.
Jackson 31-60 316 Yards 1 TD 1 INT. 11 carries for 65 yards. Sacked 7 times.

Neither stat line is impressive at all. But, neither is the reason for their success or lack thereof. One thing TJack brings that Frerotte does not is mobility. Gus is getting sacked almost twice a game. It seems to me that TJack would probably be getting sacked less than Frerotte, but probably at the expense of more INT's.

As an outsider, looking in, I really don't see the advantage of starting Gus ahead of TJack. I would prefer to have a young guy that has the potential to make big plays with his feet and arm, then a guy that can't move very well and is well beyond his prime. but, it appears that it's working for them right now. So, I doubt anything will change...

The 2009 Minnesota Vikings Starting Quarterback better not be either of these two guys. I can name seven guys who will be available who would be a major upgrade at qb next fall for the Vikes....in no specific order....
1. Kurt Warner
2. Derek Anderson
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Matt Cassel
5. Bryon Leftwich
6. Vince Young
7. Michael Vick

I think you gotta stick with Ferotte. He is pretty much the lesser of 2 evils at this point. There's a reason Gus has been a career back up for 12 years or whatever: He's rarely been good enough to win a starting spot. We have TJack available in case they need to run another jump-pass play though.

I noticed during the game yesterday when the offense was on the sidelines that Tjack was never anywhere near the discussions going on between the coaches and Ferotte. Booty was always in the the discussion, but no TJack. Seemed a bit strange to me.

This is like asking "would you rather get punched in the face or punched in the nuts?" I vote for TJack, for some reason I'm a lot easier on him than Gus. Plus Gus will get knocked down one of these games and not get back up.

But either way, they need to get an NFL caliber quarterback next year, it would make such a big difference, then they would be real contenders

I still don't want to see T Jack out there as much as I don't like Gus' play.
IMO the Vikings need to seriously scour the free agent market for a quarterback this off season. We're stuck with Gus in the short term but he is defintely not the long term solution. I'm not ready to give up on Jackson just yet, but he obviously needs time to develop if he is going to stand any sort of chance of being a viable option in the long term.

I would take Donovan McNabb/Matt Cassel/Kurt Warner...I would rather have the qb's we have now than the other ones you mentioned...

If I were Kurt Warner, I would stay in Arizona unless they are pushing him out after this year. He is the MVP in my mind right now.

Does anyone remember the vikings game (Monday night game) last year where Bryant McKinnie introduced T-Jack as Tavaris "We can never understand you in the huddle" Jackson?

Says it all for me. Either the guy can't speak or was not educated in the slightest. I suspect some of both. Too bad to, because he is rather gifted athletically.
