We get the 2nd pick tonight. I wouldn't mind taking Clausen and hopefully if Favre sticks around have Clausen learn and observe under him. At the same time, we also need to get more youth in our power line positions.

Gotta have somebody to step in after gray beard leaves. I'd like it more because it would be a sign that Childress has given up his man-crush on Jackson, than because I have any particular hopes for Claussen.

Clausen at least played tough last year injured while losing his best WR in week 2. Had 28 TDs and 4 INTs. I'd take him.

I don't want him. I don't think he is good enough. I don't think he brings a leadership and winning attitude to a team. How many QB's were losers in college and became winners in the NFL?

I've been having mixed feelings about it. If you take Clausen, that gives Favre no incentive to come back. On the other hand, if Favre doesn't come back, and we don't have Clausen ...

Huh? Clausen won't be an NFL starter for 2-3 years. Vikings drafting him will have no impact on Favre

die hard viking here. I WANT HIM. i am also hoping we pick up Taylor Mays with our 2nd 2nd round pick. add a head hunter to our already stacked defense.

Another reason I'm hesitant is because QB is the hardest position to draft for. There is no such thing as a can't miss star among them most years, as illustrated by the great many first-rounders who flopped. It's a crap shoot most years, when guys like Brady Quinn flop and guys like Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, much less heralded QBs, become stars.

Clausen has too many question marks for me and next year's QB draft is much more deep and talented. I'd say find a CB with this first Vikings pick and go for a QB next year.

I disagree with this. I think Favre knows the keys are his until he "retires" or shows he can't perform anymore.

Notre Dame's defense is what lost them games. The offense put up points.

I'd rather have Colt. Would love to take somebody else with the first pick of today (Dunlap, Griffin) and then get Colt later.

Yeah because in green bay Favre sure mentored Rogers nicely. Favre doesnt even stay in the same locker room as the rest of the players.

Not true.

And I am sure if you asked Rodgers he will say he learned nothing from Favre. Just like Hasselback

I'd much rather have Clausen then McCoy. McCoy doesn't have the arm strength to throw the ball downfield and open up the running game for AP.

I haven't followed anything on Clausen and I can only go by what I've read online but from what I'm reading he lacks a cannon for an arm but he does have a live arm and a quick delivery that allows him to get the ball out quickly. For those that follow the draft is that pretty accurate?

I don't think either will ever be full time starters in the NFL

Seems accurate. He has good zip on his ball and a nice touch on his deep passes but it's not like he can throw it 70 yards

I want Clausen as much as I want a 3 inch hole in my head. The only thing he would bring is spiked hair and popped collars. I'd rather have McCoy, but really neither is worth wasting this pick on.

I want the Vikes to look secondary. Year after year (except for the Farve pass) it is what costs them.

Good point, is Clausen (or McCoy for that matter) an improvement over T-Jack or Sage? I'm not sold they would be an instant upgrade over what Minny already has standing on the sidelines.

You mean like this? (this isn't even the worst one of a google image for him...)
