I'm an absolute dork when it comes to the NFL Draft. I freaking love it. I thought it'd be cool to have a thread for Vikings fans (like myself) to discuss tonight's happenings.

Who do you guys want, other than A.J. Klein and Jake Knott of course?

For real, Klein would be a phenomenal middle round pick.

I DON'T want Teo. Not at all. Stay away from him. Far, far away from him.

I have a similar take to last year's draft. Do whatever you can do to help out your young quarterback. If you're going to be all in with Ponder then the least you can do is put the proper tools around him.

Tavon Austin is my dream.

agreed on all counts. NFL Draft day is a friggin national holiday as far as I'm concerned. It's the one day where every fan of every team can have optimism. I will watch every minute. (on NFL network, not ESPN)

My wife on the other hand, cannot stand it and considers it one of the most boring events on television. suffice to say, we agree to go our separate ways on Draft day.
 
As much as I'd like him, I don't think they have any chance at Austin. He's going to go way earlier than their pick. He's definitely not making it past pick 16. The Rams will be all over him if he gets to them. Minnesota will have to move up a lot to get him.
 
I would love Austin as well, but don't think he will be there at 23. Not sure I want them to trade up for him either. I'm with you about Teo, I don't want him at all. I think Sylvester Williams could be a good pick at 23 or 25, a Kevin Williams replacement. Klein would be fantastic in the middle rounds. A wr is a must. Keenan Allen or Terrence Williams would be a good pick I think.
 
God, I hope the Vikings aren't stupid enough to draft Te'o. A big mistake.
 
The Vikings need help at so many positions. Teo is a virus. No way Austin falls to the Vikes and I don't really want them to trade up to get him since they need as many bodies as they can get. I agree with CRcylone6 that Sylvester Williams would be a good pickup. Also, a shutdown corner is needed so Xavier Rhodes or Desmond Trufant would great picks. While I want to see Klien get picked in round 4 you have to take Jarvis Jones if he's still available in the first. I think Terrence Williams will be a good third round pick.
 
I don't see Austin falling to where the Vikings could get him. I'll laugh just a bit if they do draft Te'o though.
 
I'm with you on Te'o - keep him out of Minnesota.

I wouldn't mind Tavon Austin, but the Vikings had a great draft last year with Jarrius Wright starting to fill in for that Percy Harvin/slot position pretty nicely and Greg Childs was vying for a WR spot until his injury in training camp.

If the team wants a multi-faceted guy that can play out of the backfield and lineup at WR, then Austin is the man.

My dream scenario - Vikings address DL with pick 1, and then go either DL or LB with pick 2 in the first round. If they wanted a Percy Harvin-type player, then they would have re-signed Percy Harvin. Gotta address the DL with Williams leaving after this season.

Address WR in round 2 and again in round 4.

I won't be upset if they take Austin - in fact I will probably go crazy like I did when they drafted Percy Harvin.
 
Anyone ..........let me repeat ANYONE but Teo. I'll take a kicker over Teo. If he's still available in the 7th round, pick someone else!
 
Both Kiper and McShay of ESPN are picking Georgia Linebacker Alec Ogletree to the Vikes. Kiper says it's not secret that the Vikings covet a middle linebacker with that pick.
 
Was just watching the NFL Network and they were saying that both the Vikes and Bears love Te'o...they said that the Vikes were going to have to trade ahead of the Bears to get him and that they were hearing the Vikes were trying to do just that...

I'm hoping that's all a smoke screen to make the Bears think they really want him...

Spielman seems to be pretty good at keeping his real intentions a secret so it seems odd that he is showing so much love to Te'o and these rumors of the Vikes wanting him so bad are all over...makes me think smoke screen...
 
I just hope they don't take Manti "Lover Boy" Te'o. I'd love to get a WR and a CB in round one. So many different possibilities this year. All I know is I'm pretty comfortable with Spielman (sp?) on draft day
 
vikings really like te'o. better hope the bears take him at 20
