As sort of a gift for a couple of my customers, I'm putting together a video of harvest footage from my drone. I've used Windows Movie Maker in the past, and it seems to work fine. The problem I've run into is with music. I don't want to run into any issue of songs I don't "own" making the video unable to post to YouTube, Facebook, etc. I ran into this earlier this fall when posting a short preview video with the Foo Fighters song "Learn to Fly" (see what I did there?). What are the general rules to follow so I don't need to worry about a video being taken down, or having to have it played in silence? I would obviously prefer to use popular music that people recognize, so I'd like to avoid generic music if possible.

I used to do highlight videos for my daughters' soccer teams. If I ran into copyright issues on music I would use the instrumental or karaoke version of the song. People still recognized it but they usually aren't copy protected.
