Was interesting to hear what Van Coleman (Iowa's Mel Kiper of college hoop recruiting) had to say about ISU's '08 recruits in an interview with Steve Deace.
Clinton Mann - was most impressed with him than any of the recruits. Said he is a double double waiting to happen. Is 6-7 225 and plays very hard - hates to lose. Sees good minutes from him right away.
Dom Buckley - Said he will be a lot like Garrett in adjusting as a frosh PG, only expecting 8-10 min a game.
Wes Eikmeier - Compared him to Jacobson, former UNI standout. Said he will need a year or two to develop physically before really contributing.
Justin Hamilton - Briefly mentioned him, saying he will work into the rotation down the road as others depart (Alex Thompson)
Others: Said our chances of landing Vanderbeken and Butler are 60/40 in our favor. Showed a graphic of Butler that listed him as a 6-4 shooting guard. I had read elsewhere that he was 6-6, so not sure what to believe.
Was very high on Lucca. Sees the offense running through him and his ability to shoot it, dribble drive it, or find people.
Thinks Garrett will have to become a 25-30 min/game player and that the days of he and Peterson being on the floor together should be behind us.
Overall, he thought Texas and Oky were the teams to beat next year, and said Missouri and ISU are teams that could creep up from the bottom half to the top half, a la Baylor this year.
