I have read both of these articles and am still not sure what the scandal is (it does not appear to be game related)

The big12 does not use this site but that doesnt mean that none of the suspended refs work big12 games.

I really don't understand what the guys did that was so bad to be suspended for the entire year. They accessed their own game assignments but were they able to manipulate what games they worked and how much they were paid?

I got the impression that these people had access to all of the site, but were on the honor system to only really look at the stuff they were supposed to, but were looking at other stuff.

Maybe they aren't supposed to be told of the games they are working too far in advance? I don't know...seems strange that people are being removed from games all season long as a result of seeing their assignments?

Exactly, it seems like there is much more to the story, I could understand a week or two suspension if that is all they were doing.

I think they're more worried about looking at financials and what other officials are making per game.

College basketball refs know 98% of their schedules by the middle of October. It would be a nightmare to try to travel to some of the places they have to on short notice. Not exactly easy to get from El Paso to Columbus with no notice...

It's probably something along these lines. They were probably accessing pay data of their peers and comparing and stuff. Also maybe looking at evaluations for their peers. Stuff that should remain confidential. More gossipy **** than anything else, most likely.

I agree that it should remain confidential, however it sounds like the fault is on the website coordinator for not preventing officials from having access to that information. I could understand a 2 week suspension for accessing information they had access to but should not have been looking at, but a whole year makes it sound like something more.
