I know this actually isn't a pro sport (international comp.), but the USA is beating Mexico 1-0 in the World Cup Qualifier and they just gave a red card to a Mexican player for challenging the goalie!

Go USA!!!!

Go USA. Is it just me of has Frankie Hejduk been playing on the NT forever? What is he like 40 by now? Dude can still play though, made a nice tackle in the 2nd half.

Its nice that US is in North American qualifying they basically walk into the World Cup, would be nice if they can get past the group stage in 2010. A win over Mexico is always good!

Just like in any sport, but American football in particular, the USA got complacent and quit attacking on offense and it almost cost them. I didn't see it all clearly as I was watching from my office while I was working. But it looked like in the early 2nd period until about the 78-minute mark they were content to play D/keep away and you could tell. Mexico had way more shots on goal and I think I heard the announcers say it was their 1st corner kick all game at about that point.

They turned it back up offensively then and it showed. I'm a soccer neophyte so I may be all wet, but that's what I saw.

Chad

PS……………after knowing absolute nothing about soccer until my kids started about 5 years back, I absolutely love it.

It did look like they turned it off a bit and almost gave up the tying goal, but thankfully Mexico played dirty and messed themselves up.

A win over Mexico is always great!

My old ISU roommates and I are actually thinking about planning a trip to S. Africa for the World Cup.

A fun match to watch even if it wasn't always well-played. Obviously Bradley was the man tonight and it seems like he's been developing nicely despite all of those that claim nepotism, etc.

I love the fact that the US is so far into Mexico's head and I love another 2-0 scoreline.

You should've seen the amount of people watching the US vs. Mexico world cup 8 years ago in LA. It was crazy how many people were into it and it was on at a very odd hour.

So much for them voodoo dolls - like a sign said, "It's gonna take more than voodoo." Maybe if they hadn't designed the doll to look like Carrot Top...

I quickly flipped through a replay of the game. Our problem has always been offense. It was a good win, but having a great star forward who can create and score has always been the difference between us and the rest of the world. Landon Donovan is great, but he needs another great player to help. Bradley obviously scored 2, but we need consistent greatness.
