UPDATED FORECAST: Coldest game in JTS history?

It might be colder but it's hard to imagine a more miserable game than the 1991 Snow Bowl against Colorado. I'm sure there are a few stalwart fans on this board that were among the 2000 or so that actually made it to the Jack.

I was there, kind of. My dad, brother and I drove up from Ankeny at halftime. We were listening on the radio and since the game was actually close we decided to come see a possible upset.

My Freshman year - I was there!

I'm surprised you could make it from Ankeny
I wanted to go but had worked the night before. I barely made it home and decided it would be stupid to drive the country roads in white out conditions to freeze at a football game.

Challenge accepted. I think the bitterly cold temperatures are what is making me the most excited about this game. That and the thought of a Big XII win...

The Colorado game was the coldest experience of my life. It's the first time i ever was hoping Colorado would just blow us out and get it over with so we could get the heck out of there. However, i was prepared to stick it out.

Can't we just have Bill Self and Hoiberg play 1 on 1 and the winner of that wins the football game too. I'm actually serious. I'd pay money to watch this happen.

I was there. Several layers under insulated coveralls...

I was there and about 1,996 others. I was trying to get to my tickets through about 5 layers of clothes and the guy at the gate said forget it go on in. We had a riot frozen hands and all.

Yeah, but that's back when you could sneak a fifth or a 12 pack into the game. Nobody really cared as long as you didn't get out of hand. We would just walk in go up to the top in Section O and sit and drink. Nobody was in about 15-20 yards of us and that was on a nice day for football. So that's how far this program has come.

I was at the 91 game. My dad was an admin assistant for the band so most of my time was spent in the press box. My sister was out in the cold with her then bf from Iowa city. He was in total shock we made a game of it with Colorado who was still good back in those days. There were at least two shirtless guys in the stands that day too so it couldn't have been THAT cold. . .

The hottest and coldest games on record in one of the most miserable seasons. UGH

Yeah, crazy ends of spectrum! I remember game one with press releases on how to stay hydrated and the less than subtle BO smell in the student section...tomorrow, one of my favorite sounds, muffled glove clapping!

I'm pretty sure I was sitting by some guys with beer stacked in the snow in the stands.

I'm actually looking forward to the game tomorrow. Its going to be ridiculously cold but it will be an experience.
