Cyclones have UNI open on the schedule for this weekend. Any idea who we are sending and who will be there? Next home dual is against... checks notes... Northwest Kansas Technical College? How did this get put on the schedule?

I assume since Jonathon Carr wrestles there. I think that’s David’s brother.

Any insiders please post who might be going to uni open. Would be much appreciated. It’s near my neck of the woods so I might run over and support the boys.

Schwab said they are only using 6 mats and are expecting 100ish wrestlers total.
Tournaments for this year as well as duals are a big let down. The schedule needs a massive improvement in the next couple of years. Would love to see duals with Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, NC State, Cornell. Hoping they send a good amount to Midlands.

If the Big 12 just flips the league schedule for next year (no guarantees there), that's immediately a home slate of:
Wyoming, OU, OSU, UNI, and Missouri, plus a presumed non-con against Arizona State.

9 conf duals + ASU + Iowa = 11 dates, provided there are no double-duals involved.

Nichols Open is #12, since there are always enough "attached" guys competing to force it on to the official schedule.

Big 12 and NCAA tournaments are exempt, so that leaves 4 dates to fill between duals and tournaments.

I believe one of the coaches had talked about the grind of the season and amount of injuries and making the front end of the season easier, so the team is mentally and physically healthy for March.

This might also be why you won't see Kemerer and Lee till later.

I have heard other programs also trying to shorten the season and opting out of competitions early.

Also depends when OuT leaves. Do any of the four new guys have wrestling?

No, but since the Big 12 welcomed Missouri back as a wrestling affiliate, it stands to reason that OU will get the same treatment -- I just don't know if it'll be right away, or if they'll have to wander in the MAC desert for a decade like MU did.

Condidering Bowlsby's current mindset I think that could take a few years to happen

I may be in the minority, but I hope the Big 12 keeps Oklahoma for wrestling. We are already extremely behind the B1G (and always will be), so losing a quality program does nothing but hurt the conference for wrestling
I agree with you- just not sure how plausible it is at this point

Punishing OU Wrestling for something the FB program created would be like you serving Jail time for something your brother did when you were out of town.
Ya my gut reaction was screw them but after thinking about it I realized that was the wrong take . Still think it might take awhile but who knows

It wasn’t the football team, that is why Lincoln left. It was the athletic department so they are technically punishing the athletic department for what the department did

My take is it would be punishing the coaches, athletes, and fans for something the greedy athletic department did. I’m all for keeping them, I’ve always wanted more competition in Big12 not less. Plus we need exciting home duals as fans and to help recruiting.
