Unsanitary Concession Stands

Not particularly surprising, given these are basically mobile restaurants. And we all know of restaurants we love to visit, but never want to look in the back.

I always just keep it simple. Hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, pretzel or a Clone Cone. There is no part of me that would consider seafood or chicken (other than chicken strips or something precooked) when dealing with a food provider concerned with speed and volume.

It has been many years since I worked at Hilton but at that time we were clean and we didn't leave the building until we passed inspection. The kitchen area was checked constantly. I remember state inspectors coming two or three times a basketball season with their thermometers checking the temperatures of the meats.

Can remember a couple Saturdays that everyone reported to Hilton to clean areas that no one would ever see - like the room where the pop canisters are stored. We also inspected boxed items like cups and popcorn boxes for any type of pests that may have come in from the distributor

From production to the point you shove it in your mouth, there are so many opportunities for disgusting **** to make it's way in to your food. It's best not to think about it.

Same. Having things pre-wrapped before they hit the stands also cuts back on contamination possibilities.

Surprised to see Charlotte #1, that arena is relatively new. I guess this article brings new meaning to "Malice at the Palace".

Wrigley Field sells shellfish? Wow.

Progressive in Cleveland was a low violator it looks like. I've been to a game there and was pleasantly surprised with how nice of a stadium it is.

Don't even ask where the hot dogs have been....

Or how long they have been on the rollers or even what they are made of... I only will eat beef hot dogs as I know what mechanically separated chicken is. Granted I'm sure that beef hot dogs are made out of some gross stuff too but poultry in general usually has more of a risk of contamination during processing than other meats.

Like others have said, not knowing/seeing what goes on with our food preparation in most places probably is a good thing because this is just what gets caught on inspections which are just spot checks. Even the cleanest places could have a perfect inspection then the next day someone doesn't wash their hands or leaves some food out too long but you'd never know it since it wasn't caught during an inspection.

I never consider any concession stand or restaurant clean. But my experience has always been that the less clean places have the best food. Otherwise, no one would go back.

I won't even click the link.
I'm sure it's awful back there. Ignorance is bliss for me.
Agreed. And basically ignorance is bliss for me whenever I go out to eat anywhere, whether its a stadium, fast food, or even a fancy sit down restaurant.

I don’t even want to know how many chefs pick their nose, scratch their ear, get on their phones and then make my food without washing their hands. And that’s probably the small things.
