United Center Alcohol Policy

Isn't ANY college basketball game technically an NCAA event? And if so, why can KC sell the heck out of beer to Thirsty Cyclone fans all weekend?

Games played during the regular season/conference tournaments are open to the school doing what they want. The NCAA doesn't police that.

The Big 12 Tourney is put on by the Big 12. The NCAA Tourney is put on by the NCAA. Events put on by the NCAA dont sell alcohol. Technically, ISU can sell beer at JTS and Hilton, but they choose not too.

Yep, that is why beer can be sold at bowl games. Technically not put on the NCAA.

NCAA is allowing alcohol sales at the CWS this year. Previously, it was only sold in the suite level. So maybe they're beginning to come around.

Does anyone know if the United Center's alcohol policy changes due to hosting an NCAA event? Will the Bars/Vendors still be open or will they be limited?

I called in--Alcohol will only be served in suites this weekend. NOT even in the Lexus Club level.

They are "testing" it at the CWS this summer. In other words they've figured out how much money is being left on the table. Next year I will all but guarantee that beer will be sold at the NCAA events.
