UNI selling beer at FB/MBB games

I know both ISU and Iowa ADs have expressed reluctance to do this, and I know the revenue isn't as great as people would expect it to be, but it's starting to feel inevitable.

Reminder: we already sell beer in the stadium. It's not like this is some highly principled stance. We've just deemed it not worth the hassle to sell it to people who aren't willing to pay double the price for their season tickets.

Not that I'm advocating for it, by the way. I'm fine without it. But let's at least be honest with ourselves as to what this is all about.

With declining attendance becoming more of an issue - those darn kids won't put away their cell phones - perhaps it's not an attendance booster but a way to retain the ticket holders they already have.

Yup. I think the Dome holds around 13K, and I could see this upping attendance in general.

UNI already sold beer too. Just in certain areas. They have now opened it up to everywhere except for kids and student sections

UNI got rid of most of those about 4 years ago. Other than enforcing a 6 hour window, its pretty much anything goes out there now.
