UNI ad on CF

Does it bother anyone else that there is a big UNI ad that keeps coming up at the top of the Cyclone Fanatic page?

If you were a real fan you wouldn't be getting UNI ads, just saying.

google ads pays for an ad to be displayed, but what shows up is based on browser history or for some ads, the topic that is being discussed. See: Vasectomy ads.
 
To answer the original question, if I could see ads (seriously, AdBlock) I wouldn't be bothered by seeing UNI ads.

well, it's getting it from somewhere. Possibly a topic that's being discussed on the site. I can promise you that UNI is not a paid sponsor of CF.

The countdown clock says UNI. I have never seen the ad, although I don't pay attention to the ads much, so I could have missed it.
 
I check the UNI football page every now and then since I'm from Cedar Falls, and I have a friend or two that is currently on the UNI football roster. I find that if I visit any websites that pertains to UNI (local newspaper/TV websites,) I also get UNI ads on here. Could be worse school ads popping up on CF.

I can't wait for September 3rd.

I added AdBlock over the weekend, and now the only ad I see on here is an ad for West Cyde Wings.



Which sound really good all of the sudden. I think wings are on the menu for supper tonight.
 
Oh my god! First we've got Ames stores selling Iowa stuff, now we have UNI ads on CF?!?!?!?! Someone fire up the WHARRGARBL sirens.

One ad doesn't bother me. Especially since it's not in the way. I just wanted to get rid of the ads with sound.

What I don't understand is when I install AdBlock, the countdown clock to the UNI (oh no, there's the dirty word of the day again) football game disappeared.

If the countdown clock widget/****** is not located on CF, then AdBlock may see it as an ad. I believe you can go into the AdBlock configuration to see what all it's blocking on a particular page, and then tell it to ignore specific page elements like that countdown clock.

EDIT: heh...ok...so we block the word s-c-r-i-p-t

Google analyzed your browsing habits and determined you were in the market for a degree from a nondescript sub-regional teachers college.
