Twister Sisters remain in Top 25

2011 Women's College Basketball Rankings and Polls for Week 16 - ESPN

Personally I think we shouldn't be there, but our loss to Texas Tech doesn't look so bad since they beat Baylor. I think that's the only thing that really saved us from dropping out. Destroying Colorado didn't hurt either. We just need to find a way to win road games...

We are the only 8 loss team in the top 25. People always complain that we are not given any respect. We are being shown a boat load of respect right here. The only reason we were not dropped before now is because BF and what he has done here. I also think that most expect us to finish out the year strong (like I do) with at least a three maybe even a four game winning streak to put us firmly in 4th place in the conference.

Beat me to it! I think you nailed it. The circumstances came together in a perfect way last week...TTech's win gives them legitimacy and our loss doesn't look quite so bad. Tonight will be a great test for the ladies.

People say it's hard to enter the top 25 and hard to leave it. This definitely proves the latter half of that.

True, but I also think that most voters didn't see us doing much better than we are. Who really saw us with a record better than 10-6? I think we still will do that, alot depends on tonight and the Kstate game though.

I am kinda surprised that Tech isn't ranked. They knocked off two ranked teams in a week. I think people are looking at their schedule though and saying that there is no way they don't lose two more games before the season is over. Hard to rank a team who finishes even in conference play.

I'm not going to bother looking right now, but, at least two, if not more, teams ranked in the same neighborhood also lost. Combined with the Baylor upset, and our win, and our rep I think that saved us, for one more week.

I think I read that it's 30 straight weeks in the top 25?

Ranking streaks like that tend to be built on long-term clout. That tends to keep a team on the Top 25 radar even when it may not be playing quite up to that.

I sometimes think BF should have the Sisters at a slightly higher level from season to season (a little higher in the B-12 standings; maybe one more rung up in the tournament during strong years; ability to knock off really elite competition more often). But then I think about how they can remain relevant and get shoo-in tourney bids with 19-10/8-8 and be preseason top 25 in rebuilding years — not a bad trade-off.

In the coaches poll we have received votes for 55 weeks. We haven't always been "ranked" during that time, but for 55 weeks someone has voted for us.

We have only been in the AP top 25 for 23 straight weeks and the coaches poll for 27 straight.

We have been ranked 43 of 53 weeks in the coaches poll.

Cool -- thanks for clarifying -- I probably misread whatever it was I read.

23 straight weeks in AP-25 -- not too bad.
