Now I know that the big ten has rights to ABC and ESPN, but really, as I was looking at this weekends schedule, I see some power showing its ugly face. Ohio State and Penn State, both of whom cant play in bowls this year, have been on national TV every weekend. I know they are perennial powerhouses, but really? Penn State is 0-2 and isn't good enough to be on tv. nobody wants to see that. Not saying our game should be on tv either since it's against an FBS team, it's just the mere thought of no point in watching football on certain channels because of it.

Actually, I like being able to switch over and make sure PSU is getting pi$$ pounded one more time. As for ISU this weekend, it's on TV, if you have cyclones.tv.

I have tickets to see the Cyclones Saturday, but i feel your pain. However, the train wreck that is Penn State, while I don't enjoy it, I certainly don't mind flipping the channel to see them getting pasted.

That's a stretch as far as Penn State is concerned. They haven't lived up to that billing in at least a decade.

Hopefully the networks lose money for their poor decisions. If not, they aren't poor decisions.

a) It's not ABC/ESPN's problem that the Big 12 hasn't scheduled any games worth spotlighting the first 3 weeks.
b) You don't think the rubbernecking potential alone made it worth their time to put Penn State on national TV for at least the first couple weeks?

This. Like it or not, people have interest in watching Penn State. Some of them are fans. I would guess most are not, and just want to see them lose. I have no problem with that. If I did, I just wouldn't watch. The thing about television is that they don't have to show only programming that you find tasteful or entertaining. The recourse the viewer has is not watching it.

And it will surely end once the conference schedules pick up and there are more big games happening every week. First couple weeks of college football always have some questionable coverage, just due to the lack of quality games.

Count me in the "enjoy watching Penn State look horrible" camp.
Their first win will be 10/20 at Iowa which will trigger a meltdown greater than the likes of anything you will see Saturday if UNI beats them

I'm just going out on a limb here and assuming that the network executives have a pretty decent idea of what they're doing when they decide who to put on TV and in which time slots.

With that being said, if it wasn't for the Big10 Network I would be the first person to say Iowa doesn't deserve to be on TV as much as they are. Not in recent years anyhow.

You do realize that the AD used this game as their game to black out local coverage to inspire ticket sales and purchases of cy.tv right?

EVEN IF the above were true, which I sincerely doubt it is, I don't have a problem with it. ISU DOES have (though diminishing) attendance problem. this is just incentive to get butts in seats.

Even IF aired, we wouldn't be on ABC/ESPN/ etc for Saturday night, so where would you put it?

Ease up Cyco, just relaying what JP said on kxno. Something along those lines anyway. MAYBE it was when the new contract starts for the new Big12 tv deal, but thought it was effective now.

This is part of why I thought they should have had a TV ban too. They'll be on every week even though they are terrible because of the belief that everyone wants to watch a train wreck.

It's not just a belief if the ratings back it up. And the fact that they keep getting prime spots indicates that the ratings do back it up. Once people stop watching, they'll disappear. It's that simple. What anyone thinks should or shouldn't have been included in their punishment is immaterial.

You just told a guy who has Psycho in his user name to ease up?

KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

RT @ChrisLevel: #TexasTech announces a 3rd tier rights deal w/FSN today and you'll see Oklahoma State agree to something nearly identical.

It probably would've been nice for ISU to get FSN on board for their 3rd tier rights, as Tech, Oklahoma, and evidently OSU have done, but I don't doubt that there's far more demand/eyeballs for Texas Tech and Oklahoma athletics than there is for ISU, and Cyclones.tv seems like a good product and directly goes to the AD, so I'm OK with it.

last night I was flipping through channels and on 9.2 (live in Marion, IA and just have an antenna) apparently I get the ACC network?! I find it hilarious and sad that I can watch Maryland vs Uconn on TV this weekend but not ISU....

why can't you watch ISU? What is it, 10 bucks for a one month subscription? And it goes to the University that you claim to be a fan of? Is that so bad?
