Trent joins Travis in Virginia

Virginia is turning into a second home for Council Bluffs transplants..... their baseball coach went to St. Albert's.
It's just St. Albert. There is only one school and it shouldn't be possessive. Sorry to pick nits.

Thought this paragraph at the end of the article was telling...

Asked his impression of the UVA wrestlers he’s met this summer, Trent said, “It’s been a delightful change in culture, I’ll say that. Appreciation. Guys showing up on time. Seeking you out. You’re not talking guys into coming to extra [workouts]. They’re saying, `When can I work out again? When can you put me through this?’ They’re hungry, and they want to learn, and they seem to have the attitudes and desires of champions.”

Hopefully, the elements that Trent is speaking about have left the wrestling room of his last place of employment.

I hope so too! If not, we now have some new tone setters in the room (although young)..Storr, Gomez, Parker, etc. are all about wrestling and from everything I've heard have a desire to be great and a work ethic to match. Better days are ahead.

That paragraph stuck out to me too.

It's what has plagued this team for the last several years. It's too bad. We've had some talent that just never panned out. Pretty sure that crap won't fly with Dresser, Zaddick and Co. Looking forward to see a team that is fundamentally sound, mentally tough and in wrestling shape!!

Actually, one must assume that the Paulsons were two of the "elements" in question. As coaches, weren't they also responsible for ISU's wrestling culture? That Trent would provide such quote confirms the wisdom of not retaining him/them.

What a complete lack of self awareness. Can't believe he is putting all of the blame on 18-20 year old kids.

I tend to agree. Just finished reading Navy Seal Jocko Willink's book "Extreme Ownership"

One point he repeats over and over when talking about leadership.. "There are no bad teams. Only bad leaders".
