Have a 3 year old traeger , used it tarped it and it rained 3-4 inches . Now when I go to flip the switch I get nothing . No lights no fans no auger . Replaced fuse used different outlets extension cords ... has a month old hot rod in it . Is it time for a new controller board ? How do you test that or the cord ? Ideas ?

I had the same thing happen at about the same age. I don't recall the exact site but do a search and there is a really good tutorial available in one of the Traeger forums. Basically they have you unplug a series of wires in the control box wiring harness, replace the fuse and start re-plugging the wires until the fuse blows (that will tell you which component is bad). I replaced the motor, around $50 on Amazon, and mine works fine. Good luck.

Not to be an ass but a serious question: did you check to make sure the outdoor outlet wasn't tripped? My deck outlet tied into a garage GFCI.

I have completely taken apart and restored a Traeger that is 15 years old and have replaced pieces here and there. Arnold Motor Supply is a local dealer that can get parts.

Do you have a cover for it???

Yes

Did you leave wood pellets in it?
Yes, but no they are not wet and soggy.

Fuse isnt and has never been blown, changed the fuse for fun no go.

Yes I have used two different outlets which i both tested with a radio and with and without the extension cord to the grill. The grill does nothing , no fan, no auger, no display, rod doesnt get hot.

No lights, fan, or auger and everything else checked out okay? I'm gonna go with the control panel. Call the Traeger hotline, they've been a great resource in the past for me. Where do you live? I switched my dial panel for digital and still have the dial panel. We can hook it up and see if it's your panel.

Western IA , I didnt have good luck with the Traeger hotline, basically told me Im out of warranty here is a checklist. Everything worked when I shut it off.

probably controller upgrade to the digital if you dont have it already. Big upside to digital. It is nice to have a spare around if it isnt the controller. I have had a traeger for about 10 years. I love it and use it a lot. I actually keep mine in the garage and use it in there with the garage door open.
I have replaced everything on it hot rod ,controller, fan

My little brother had to replace the controller before but he ran it during a rain storm once or twice. Guessing the moisture got into it. He upgrade to the digital and now takes better care of it.

As for me I don't have the Traeger but the Pitt Boss knock off. 4 years in so far and I had to replace the motor once and that was last year. They even sent me a new motor replacement for free, which I didn't expect them to do due to age.

I wanted the Traeger but for the same size I saved $250 even after a heavy cover for it.

Good thing about the Traeger and other pellet grills is that they are so simple to tear apart and fix stuff on it.

If I smoked more I'd buy one of these puppies.

I'm looking into buying one. I'd like to have one big enough to smoke a large turkey. Any suggestions on which model would be best?

The texas elite... Not sure if the smaller ones will handle it. My brother in law has the smaller size and couldn't fit one in.

After the troubles I've had with this traeger I'd like to try a green mountain instead ..
