Before I get discredited right off that bat, I've been a member here for a long time, I jut usually prefer to be a spectator.
Anyways, my question to everyone on here is; would it really matter if this team went 27-3 or so this year as far as your ncaa tourney confidence goes?
It really doesn't matter as long as you get in. Match ups matter yes, but you can get a bad match up at any seed. Site location helps, but in today's game, it really doesn't matter. Depth matters, but only if your starters can't get it done.
Without looking through every teams results this year, I'd venture to guess we're the only team to have all of our loses come down to the last couple of minutes. Our record, relatively to other top schools this year, isn't great. Maybe our luck will just change ever so slightly in March.
I get it, I take losses as bad as anyone, I live in Cedar Rapids and work in Iowa City, and I'm a passionate fan who goes to a lot of games/tournaments. I spend a lot of time defending ISU from Hawk fans. Especially, in this weird year, where both their fball and bball teams are highly ranked, in large part because of their horrendous conference.
Point is, enjoy the next few weeks (and go to Kansas City if you can, it's a blast). Because once the ncaa tourney starts, a giant reset button is pushed, and we are all 0-0.
