So, I couldn't sleep the other night and was watching the Tour and actually kind liking it. I am going through some kick where I really want to get a bike and start riding... Anywhoo... I thought this was a riot. I guess when the guy riding the yellow jacket has to 'releive himself' it is courtesy for the other riders to do the same. I woke my wife up laughing at the coverage of all these grown men peeing on the side of the road...

Wait till they get into the mountains. It gets sooo much more exciting then. I love the tour on category 5 days.

A few years back, I would bike with Lance:wideeyed:....
Actually I would ride my Schwin Airdyne exercise bike while I watching Lance dominate thru the mountains of France.....VS use to televise this every morn at around 6-7 am:yes:

Still on every morning. I usually tivo it and then zap through the boring beginning part. Wait I cannot say tivo anymore because DirecTV stole my tivos!!!!

who are we rooting for....?

Too many individual riders but I like Christian Vandvelde, David Millar, Jens Voigt and Cadel Evans.

Team wise I like Team Columbia and Team CSC.

Who do I want to win?

ME, I want to win the 'Saab Fly To the Finish' Sport Combi.

True story.....When I lived in Irving, Texas I was a triathlon fanatic. Nevertheless none of us locals had a chance since there was a punk high school kid (Lance Armstrong) from Plano High that dominated.

Lance was a great triathlete, but he never got the to elite levels because he would always go out too hard at the beginning of the run. Of course he was the same way at the beginning of his cycling career, and then he grew up and learned to let his team help him, and look where it got him.

Well you are kinda right...Lance never had a chance(choice) to get to the elite level as he was 18'ish when he abandoned to focus on cycling.

He got a bit more help from some drugs than from his team.

Although there are suspicions that Armstrong may have used performance enhancing drugs, there is not concrete evidence to support such a claim.

The guy has done a world of good with the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I just don't understand the need to trash someone that is such an inspiration.

Please prove your claim.

Maybe Lance could add you to the list of people that he has successfully sued for false claims of his drug use. I am sure his attorney Mark Levinstein would love to hear your claims as well. Please feel free to contact him:

The drug claims will not die. When the last tour rider tested positive earlier this week, it was Lance's 4th former teammate to test positive.

In my mind I think he doped but I also know the rest of the field was doping as well so that constitutes a "level playing field" and what he did was nothing short of remarkable.

fair enough, but he never tested positive in any in-season or out-season controls.

I can't prove he used drugs anymore than he can prove he did not use drugs.

Almost all pro bicycle races have used drugs. Are you telling me that 1 guy who never used drugs was able to beat all of the guys who used drugs x years in a row?

I think it is highly likely his cancer was caused by drugs. Cancer defintely changed his physique so that he could win a race like the Tour de France. Did you know one of the biggest side effects of the experimental cancer drug that he used was increased red blood cell count? That is aim of most of the drugs cyclists use.

Common sense he says he used drugs. At least 4 former teammates have been busted for drugs. He used Micahel Ferrari as his physician for years. Ferrari has been linked to providing many riders with EPO and educating them how to use it without getting caught. And there is much, much, more.

What I thought was most damning was the testimony from a really good friend of his and his wife at a trial.

Ex-Friends Say Armstrong Admitted Drug Use : NPR

Contrary to popular belief he has failed at least 1 drug test. He managed to produce a doctor's note after the test and they execused it. Doubt if they would do that any more.

Maybe in x years he will come clean.

He defintely is a good rider and since they pretty much are all using drugs I kind of think it makes it fair.

arguing with you at this point would be like me trying to explain to my 3.5 yo son that the guy that shot Bambi's mommie isn't real. It is in his head so it must be real-same with you. Heck I can't prove that Bambi isn't a documentary.

The NPR story you reference has been the crux of legal battles that lance has won. But hey who cares about facts.

The science behind drug testing is so bad that any time someone pops positive I question the test. For ***** and giggles sometime google Rutger Beke and find out how he proved that his body produces NATURALLY excessive EPO, and the test used to determine abnormal EPO levels can't determine the difference.

But who cares, you can dismiss facts...just remember that Bambi is a cartoon.

I can't prove he used drugs anymore than he can prove he did not use drugs.

The one drug test that Lance "failed" was not in the positive test range, so even without the doctors note it should not be that damaging.

You admit that you can not prove that Lance was guilty of using illegal substances. Your arguments for condeming him are largely based on that he is guilty by association (just about every cyclist is doping so he must be also).
