TOP Assistant Coaches

That is awesome. Good to see our OC on the Top Assistant list.

I hope he gets some looks as a HC, I would hate to see him go to another school just to be an OC.

Up until the last 3 games, Herman has looked terrible. I'll give him a lot of credit for the last three games, as he is deserving, but he is not one of the top assistants.

agreed...he'll be here next year

Seems like something changed the last three games.....

I really think Herman just needs a QB that values the ball and make osme plays with his legs

Herman has a few more years of proving what he does here works and works well before he would get a head coaching job. He's young and has a lot of potential, but he'll be an assistant for a few more years before he's a head coach, even if those years are not here.

Herman isn't even the best coordinator on the team. Not that I don't think well of Herman, I just think really highly of Wally

Hermann can coach. This has been proven. He just needs to be able to keep up the progress at ISU before he can really be seen as a head coach at a decent sized D1 school.
Yes he did fantastic things at Rice. The question is. Who is Rice? I will say this though. Rhoads made one hell of a hire when he got Hermann as his OC. The kid knows X's and O's. Give him next year and the following season and I think we Cyclone fans will see some serious offense.
This all has to be about who he gets for his "system". His recruits are coming in and starting to make a difference and that's a good thing.

Herman has looked better since we've got some more consistent quarterback play.

I'm liking Herman more and more, its pretty obvious having Barnett, a QB built to run this offense is making him look much better. I think that's the difference between what he did at Rice and what he's doing at ISU, at Rice he just kind of picked up where the previous staff took left off because Rice had been running the same offense prior to his arrival. He started from scratch at ISU. I think as he gets more guys in to play his offense, he'll continue to improve. THe offense has just had a different rhythm to it with Barnett under center and Hermans playcalling was very effective.

2 games ago we scored 13 points against the worst defense in BCS.

Herman hasn't looked any different the last couple games as he has all year. We are just winning right now

Exactly! I personally think we Herman can get his proto-type qb life will be much easier for him. Jantz has the size and speed for this offense just not the experience. Barnett is looking good under this offense. Just think when Herman can get a qb with Jantz size and mobility with Barnett's moxy.
There's a qb out there for this offense that will put up great numbers in the near future. Now get some Wide Receivers and life will be good.

Let's see....we rank last in the Big 12 in scoring and our offensive coordinator is considered one of the top coordinators? Wow.

I was ecstatic when I heard Herman was going to be Paul's OC, and I'm still optimistic he's going to get our offense cranked up, especially as we bring in more of his kind of players. But I don't think we're anywhere near the point where he should be nationally recognized for the job he's done. That said, I sure like the direction he has us moving in the last month.

It just goes to show you how much a big win can do for you. Is Herman any better than he was at the beginning of the year? Nope.

I am the one who started the herman is a good coach thread a few weeks ago. Many blasted me. It was not herman. It was the players not executing the plays. Do you guys really think he had a top 10 pffense at rice. Then came to isu. The forgot how to coach after his first season here. Then remembered how to coach again 3 games ago?

Look at our offensive stats for the last 3 seasons.....hard to make a case for Herman. Yet, he will get a shot somewhere. Young, smart, personable and on the coat tail of CPR.

If it wasn't for our 5 OT's, we would score 21 points per game which would rank us 100th in offense for the season. I'm not saying Herman stinks or anything. I just keep hearing this myth about how good he has been the past 3 wins. Winning changes everything. His offense is no better in these wins than it was in the losses IMO
