He really didn't dodge anything. The one dude that wanted to hire the other guy pushed him out of the way of the bullet.
"Saw it right off." When a university hires a firm to interview candidates and hire the candidate that best exemplifies the requirements put forth by the institution, and said institution then ignores the hiring of the candidate and hires the 2nd choice because of diversity then "Houston we have a problem." UW-M is a dumpster fire and it is best to steer clear of it.
Agree. Normally I would think something like this is stupid to do but this has extenuating circumstances.

Not sure how close it was (others can probably confirm), but he was looking like the leader and maybe even reported as the choice for a bit.
