TILLER!

I think we have receivers open quite a bit, the problem is the timing. There are alot of balls being delivered late...

Agreed. Which, if all you are watching is the end of the play after the defender has closed ground on the late pass, can give the impression that the receiver hasn't achieved sufficient separation.

The ISU receivers aren't without fault, but they have been open during the last two games, and had badly thrown passes come their way.

All I'm saying is that we shut out UNI with Tiller, I dont think with AA we would have done that. I dont care what you people say that are for AA. He's proven himself to be not so great of a QB and Tiller isnt the best but he has proven to preform when he needs to.

Let me get this straight, Tiller played well because the defense shutout UNI tonight?

Personally, i'd say we saw tonight why the staff has continued to keep Arnaud in (another lesson in why we need to trust the highly paid staff to do their jobs). IMO, Tiller is not a better option. Yes, tiller did not turn the ball over... but he also was not put in the position by the staff or the conditions of the game where he would have a higher chance of doing that. Thanks in large part to our defense the game was pretty much in control, so we didnt have to put tiller in a position to make those turnovers.

At the end of the day, neither is very good and neither has a good offense to work with, unfortunately. But, aside from any injuries, ive gotta say Arnaud is our best option at this point, unfortunately.

I think we have a fair amount to go on with Tiller at this point. He's basically played the entirety of 3 games (@NU, @TAMU, and UNI).

His total stats in those games:

Passing: 38/70 (54%), 344 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
Rushing: 40 att, 107 yards (2.7 ypc)

I really hope Capello or Barnett are ready to play next year, because I really can't see Tiller cutting it.

Yes,but the Tiller sample size has outliers. 8 Turnovers not due to him and two pick sixes not due to him. aTm was a disaster. Yeah, the shutout was nice and I don't know if AA scores more points. QB play wasn't the huge limiting factor most times. The penalties pigeonholed whoever but Tiller was not efficient. He has scored what 25 points in 3 starts? I don't care how many times you turn it over, through the course of the season that will not be successful.

dude, it's not even worth arguing with him. I'm pretty sure herkykiller was a thalidomide baby. you're better off trying to argue with a house plant.

Basically tiller started this game (ok he has 3 starts or whatever) but he played just as good as AA. And no interceptions.

we put up 210 yards of Offense and thats the reason we won the game ? if it wasn't for Our D coming up big and creating turnovers that game could of been UNI 14 us 13 or something to that effect. I love the win but Tiller didn't do squat to win us this game other then not turn the ball over. those 2 pick 6s were huge.

Look, the offense wasn't getting it done with Austen at the helm. That is partly Austen's fault, but there are definately other factors (blocking, dropped balls, penalties). However, Austen has made poor decisions and bad throws which have lead to five picks and at least one fumble. We cannot win ball games giving up turnovers at the rate that Austen has in his career. We aren't good enough to win games if we lose the turnover battle. Tiller didn't throw the ball well tonight, but he also didn't turn the ball over. This was an inferior team and we didn't score a single offensive point in the second half. That isn't good enough.

I am really torn. Let a senior lead who clearly has a propensity to turn the ball over and has never beaten a good team (South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Kent State, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Colorado, Minnesota, Army, Baylor), but who also probably gets the offense better, or let a sophomore lead who hasn't shown any sign of greatness passing and has much less experience, but who also has won against a good team (Nebraska) and doesn't turn the ball over. For all of you who say this should be cut and dry, grow up. It isn't that easy. Maybe Tiller should run the wildcat going forward and we should incorporate it more, with Austen running the spread. Hell, mix it up during the same drive. I'll give Tiller a bit of a pass regarding his accuracy just because he is inexperienced, but some of those passes tonight were not good. Then again, he made a few nice throws too. A little experience can go a long way in helping a QB with accuracy.

Either way, this was the perfect time for CPR to give Tiller a shot, and I'm glad he did. Not sure what the coaches will decide for Tech. Sure glad I'm not making that decision this week.

If I put Tiller up against AA I would expect to see Tiller win.

What kind of weapons are they using? That's a big factor in deciding who wins. If it's a straight boxing match I'd give it to Arnaud, he's bigger, has a longer reach and his body could absorb rib shots better.

The idea that Tiller doesn't turn the ball over is a fallacy. Everybody points to the Nebraska game & now tonight as evidence that he's careful with the ball, but his career TD-INT ratio is 1-4. I'm pretty sure he had a fumble in the Baylor game last year too. Guess what? I can cherry pick any number of games in Austen's career where he didn't have any TO's too. That doesn't mean that he's the ultimate conservative game manager though. The Arnaud-Tiller debate is probably going to be with us all year and I'm fine with that. But can we please stop pretending that Arnaud gives it away like a $5 hooker while Tiller is the Fort Knox of ball security?
