So I was reading some newspaper articles from Utah to see what they had to say about the game. Busted out laughing when I saw that a reader commented this… :twitcy:

Kane should be suspended for the year.

No reason for that kind of foul with a possible long term injury to Mica.

His wolverine claws should be permanently removed.

poor opposing players won't have to fear "snikt! snikt!"

Gives a shoeless, homeless man a pair of Jordan's: "Oh. That's cool, I guess..."

Accidentally pokes someone in the eye: "SUSPEND HIM FOR THE YEAR! HE'S A THUG!"

Has Captain Sisko chimed in with his opinion yet? I find him to be much more reasonable. If not him maybe Dax.

Wow! Never seen a foul quite like that at any level. Once it gets posted and goes viral Kane’s basketball may be over.

Yeah, Kane’s career is likely over based on that incident, usually a 15 and 10 player loses his career for poking a guy in the eye…good one.

Nasty foul? Yes. Deserving of ejection? Probably. But a full year suspension? That's some damn powerful Kool-Aid you have there.

Context is killing me here. Everyone needs to remember that throughout the game BYU was stressing clear the ball high to use their height advantage and keep our hands away from the ball. Just minutes prior in nearly the exact same scenario Drago clears the ball high and elbows Hogue in the mouth. Now Kane, in the same situation anticipates the same move and goes high. Unfortunately for both parties he got all eye as the ball was cleared low.

Ugly foul - yes
Flagrant 1 - sure
Flagrant 2 - no way was that intentional
Suspension - GTF out

The pro-Cyclone comments on this article are phenomenal. Kudos to this poster:

I read a BYU-slant article which implied Kane's poking the center in the eye was in retaliation for the center elbowing Hogue on the previous play.

Exactly. You can tell that Kane was going for a hard foul to stop the guy from getting an easy 2, but anyone with any basketball experience would expect Mika to go high with the ball down in the post. Big men are always taught to keep the ball high and that is what Kane was expecting. It just so happens that he got more eyeball than basketball.

The game had a very different feel to me last night. For some reason, very early in the game I developed a real dislike for for the BYU players and their fans. I didn't expect that from BYU, but it seemed like their team and crowd were made up of those kids from school that everyone really disliked. You know the ones, the cocky little punks with the spiky hair and a big mouths. The kids that just didn't know when to shut up. BYU seemed to have an attitude from the start. I can see why emotions were high and the game was so rough.
