Kyle Kempt isn't an athlete that's going to burn you or take your breath away..this is obvious. Between his Jay Cutler facial expressions and his Alex Smith game manager play, he is EXACTLY what ISU needs. Park wants to be "the man" Kempt wants to facilitate the ball to "the men". We have a TON of offensive talent and we need someone to get the ball to them. I think there might be some issues w Park and his ego (I hope I'm wrong). Kempt has average arm strength, and excellent decision making ability (see would be WR screen that would have been pick 6 but he tucked and ran for 10). Go Cyclones. Great win.

Amazing game out of that young man. He'll go far in life.

I hope he gets the start for Kansas, even if Parks comes back. I think Park should fight for the Job again. The only issue I see is, the coaches saw something in practice, that kept Kyle from starting and I hope that issue does not reveal its ugly head in the Kansas game.

His biggest asset was from the neck up today, he played poised and made good decisions. I wish they would just make Park watch film of him sitting in the pocket for hours and hours. JP's lack of pocket presence is the only difference between him and the elite QB's around the country. Kempt showed how a QB can raise the play of his O line by hanging in the pocket and getting the ball out quick. Park has more talent but with the amount of talent at the skill positions, maybe a game manager is a better fit.

Regardless of who plays at QB, I'd like to see a similar game plan the rest of the year. I know they trust Park but he is good for one or two plays a game that he tries to force a play, you can argue the two losses this year were a direct result of that. They need to rein him in a bit.

A great job by Kempt. It's good to have more than one QB.

But JB was exactly what we needed. Then not.

This isn't basketball. Park or Kempt need other units to play well, in addition to the staff having a good game plan. They often haven't and game manager QBs like you're labeling Kempt accumulate a lot of losses then.

Meh, did you see the game winning throw? Sorry, but the result of that being a pick/td isn't due to a difference between Park and Kempt. We were all in on that play from the start. Against UT that's an INT. Against other teams it's a wasted down and a long field goal due to having the wrong play called because few are as predictable as Stoops. Other times it's not beating the jam at the LOS or a better thrown ball but still a drop.

Kempt teammates stepped-up in Park's absence as requested by the staff.

Kempt did a lot of great things. He's not a savior and there is a difference with him and Park. The Butler catch before halftime....should have been a TD. Butler beat his man (which our WRs did routinely yesterday) There were several throws like that (I am guessing nerves were part of it) but he did make good decisions out there. I really noticed the way he protected the ball when he was carrying it.

I'm not 100% sure you know what a "game manager" is. It's been widely documented that Kempt has a mediocre arm, no game experience, and has a great head for the game. Isu's game plan was stripped down to complement this. Kempt's only job is to throw the ball to our outstanding offensive weapons via check downs, short throws, no more no less. Dis he make 3 good deep throws? Yup, but those are dialed up from the OC seeing what the defense has been giving all game long. These are safe throws, low risk, and high percentage. Jacob Park isn't a game manager, he makes tough throws routinely, high risk, high reward because he has the play making ability. See 1st play of the game vs Texas. We didn't know what they were gonna give us, but we took a shot. Alex Smith has been labeled a game manager (Kempt). Jay Cutler is a gun slinger (Park).

Give Kempt a bad game plan like UT and see how he does. As a game manager, Kempt will get eaten alive with a **** game plan and no adjustments. And that's assuming he's a game manager, and not just a one game fluke. It's stupid to compare Kempt's vs Park.

You are arguing with yourself...I want that to be apparent. Also, keep on topic if you're going to disagree with me. When have I mentioned Texas other than to give you an example of taking a shot down field? My point is they are both good QBs and I haven't given an indication otherwise. They have 2 different styles of play, what part of this is difficult for you to digest? The fact that you think it's stupid to not compare the two, shows your limitations at understanding the fundamentals of football.

ISU did not play very well versus Texas....that is universally understood. BUT the truth probably lies somewhere inbetween poor execution/reads by players AND some poor schemes & play calls by coaching staff.

I have read multiple posts by you (this week and last) excoriating the offensive coaching vs. UT. It is one game, get over it.

This happens to be the same coaching staff that has done some things offensively that not many ISU teams have done in the past. Currently, it ranks 29th nationally in adjusted offense. Tell me something new.
