Just got back from this movie. GREAT FLICK! I laughed throughout the whole movie. Ferrell and Wahlberg were great together. I HIGHLY recommend this movie!

He's basically the same character in every movie just like Jim Carey minus The Majestic. I very much enjoyed Anchorman and Step Brothers btw.

So you havent seen The Other Guys, but you have already concluded it sucks because Will Ferrell plays the same character in every movie. You pick one of his better movies (Anchorman) and one of the ones that best characterizes him in every single movie (Step Brothers), as movies of his you enjoyed. Interesting. IMO, Ferrell played some amazing and unique parts in Elf, Zoolander, Old School, Stranger Than Fiction, Jay and Silent Bob, and Winter Passing (which I thought was terrible). True, he has some terrible movies with cookie cutter characters, but he has also played some fantastic parts (Elf and Stranger Than Fiction), and some incredibly humorous and original parts (Zoolander, Old School, Anchorman). So if you havent seen the movie, maybe you ought to check it out before you cast judgement.

I like Will, but he is pretty much the same character in every movie. I can see why people don't like him, or thinks his act gets old. I still like him and look forward to all his movies...

So would you rather watch Will Ferrell play the same character and still put out some funny movies or have him go the way of Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler and put out terrible family movies?

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, and some people like to take that one step further and feel that they are entitled to **** in everyone else's coffee too.

It's subjective -- There is no accounting for taste.

It seems you either love Will Ferrell or you can't stand him. I think he's hilarious. It's a completely different kind of humor though IMO.

For some reason I don't really care for Steve Carrell for the most part. I don't know what it is, but I just don't. I doubt I will ever see Dinner with the Schmucks or whatever it's called? I don't even find the trailers to be funny at all, so that's not a good sign IMO. But again, I don't care for Carrell much.

I think WF movies can't really be judged without herding the absurdities(Talladega Nights, Step Brothers, Night at the Roxie, etc.) away from the rest.
He has played some non-loonytune characters. Remember the vain-actor character (I know, big stretch) in Bewitched?
His films range from total dreck to very memorable comedy hits.

Like Mike Myers, he has no fear of looking foolish. Big difference now being that Will is not DOA like Mike is.

BTW, there's never been an actor alive who wasn't "the same guy" in every movie.

I believe that the late Heath Ledger in the Dark Night would disagree with that point.

People forget that Jim Carrey starred in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". A great movie and a good acting job.

He also was in "The Truman Show", "Man on the Moon", which I hate, and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". I realize the last one still allowed him to be zany, but he defined the role and did a great job with it.
