THE Ohio St Univ FB games with 20K

Blahahahahaha They literally will still have to run all kinds of promos in Lawrence

Do you suppose when KU and BU announce attendance limits for football games they just say something like “The NCAA is limiting all football teams to certain capacities. However, we will carry on like normal. In fact, try bringing a friend for the first game!”
This could also apply to TCU.

JP just said on the Tailgate Tour tonight that it's a good chance that JTS will be capped at 50% capacity which is around 30,000 fans. Historically they see near that in season ticket sales annually so there's a good chance that the only way you're watching a game in JTS this fall is to be a season ticket holder.

Would ISU fans outnumber KU again down there this year?

He just said that was an option. I got the impression he thought there would be more.

He threw around 30,000 capacity several times so it makes me believe that could be what they are planning as of now. He may hope capacity is more but at the very least fans should take it into a consideration that tickets could be limited this fall.

I thought he was trying to sell tickets. He was basically making that up based on the current restaurant restrictions.

In JTS, 30k people isn't 6 feet of social distancing. That's every other seat open... which leaves you with some extra leg and elbow room while breathing down the neck of the person in front of you.

Didn't they sell over 40k season tickets last year?

Ya if tOSU is the saying the 20k in the Shoe that the holds like the 100k then JTS would be looking at like 12k?

I've got some connections in the Iowa AD and they are thinking 50% capacity this fall. Obviously things can change but that's what is being discussed.

There is a great Athletic article relating to this, so I've copied a relevant portion. The rest of the article covers the difficult decision of how to disperse tickets. Do they go strictly by donor amount, donor lottery, students only, etc. Some hard questions to answer.

That person works at one of the (Power 5) schools that sells out most, if not all of the time. This person has modeled dozens of different seating configurations in an attempt to maximize seating capacity using their state’s current social distancing guidelines. The best they can do given the current guidelines — which certainly could change over the next three months — is between 18 and 22 percent of capacity. This person has tried every possible configuration. The other big question all the departments are asking is how big a family unit can be. People living in the same house don’t need to stay apart because they aren’t apart at home, but a school isn’t likely to allow 10 people to form one family group. That number will have to be decided.

...

While the mask debate rages in multiple states, athletic department leaders seem united that willingness to wear them could lead to greater stadium capacity. Whether that’s true remains to be seen. At this point, no state would allow even a half-full Power 5 stadium. The people who run college athletic departments hope that changes, but they need to be ready for multiple possibilities. So they continue to model different seating arrangements. They also are trying to troubleshoot in advance the issues that could arise from limited capacity.
