Who is he? I see him every game holding CPR headset. Hes always right behind him, following his every move. Just curious if anyone knew.

It is a manager. Since Rhoads doesn't always wear his they have a manager follow him around and hold it when he doesn't have it on.

I'd be more interested in the Ames PD dude that goes everywhere with the coach, back to the DMAC years. I swear I had a class with him back in the day. But, at this point, maybe I just recognize him from years of seeing him behind the coach.

Every head coach has a persona protector for every game. The one for Iowa I believe is actually retired now but still does it.

The headset guy is a student equipment manager. Rhoads' first game at ISU back in 2009 was the game that the headsets didn't work until around the 4th quarter. Rhoads felt more "connected" to the players and game atmosphere while he wasn't wearing the headset, and has had a student carrying his headset ever since.

The personal protector (which all Div 1 coaches have) is an officer w/ the ISU Police Dept.

it should be an ISU officer unless its changed this year. It was Lt. Elliot Florer at least since I was in school in 2007. Havent seen who it is this year though since ive had to watch them all online

I've seen him around. He often sits in the front row at basketball games (or at least last year he did, when people saved them for him)

But yes, he is a student equipment manager. I bet it's pretty awesome hearing everything CPR says/screams during the games. Though, he may have to wear a nut-cup to protect from CPR's headset tosses :jimlad:
