And that's all fine and good - that's a matter of opinion. What is NOT a matter of opinion is whether or not a maid rite is the same thing as a sloppy joe. Which CW adamantly declares.
A sloppy joe has a sauce. A maid-rite (loose meat sandwich) does not.
Not all sloppy joes are not maid rites, but all Maid Rites are sloppy joes.

Maid Rite is a brand and a whole different beast. They use incredibly finely chopped meat with very little else (the grease is all that flavors it). You put your ketchup on it, maybe a dill pickle slice, and eat up (with fries of course).
Sloppy joes are made at home from crudely ground beef and a can of Manwich (no substitutes allowed).
There was a Maid Rite in Ogden when I was growing up and that's where all the grandpas had coffee so I'd go with my grandpa. You don't disrespect them by calling them sloppy joes.

Completely disagree. If you want to say that a Maid Rite (loose meat sandwich) can become a Sloppy Joe by adding sauce, I can get behind that. But by definition a Sloppy Joe has tomato sauce/paste/whatever. A Maid Rite sans-sauce is never a sloppy joe.
To be completely fair, the original question from the pod was between loose meat sandwiches and sloppy joes, but then quickly made the switch to Maid Rites.

They're crap. It's like getting hamburger powder. Whenever my wife insists on eating at Maid-rite, I get a pork fritter.
My grandma called this type of sandwich a barbecue, despite there being no BBQ sauce in her recipe.
