Kirk is really good, but Dave is a freakin' mad man on guitar. Metallica hasn't been good since And Justice For All. And since they booted Mustaine, we got Megadeth, who are way better than Metallica. Things worked out just fine.I'm always fascinated by bands/rappers feuding or infighting. Few are more famous than the split between Dave Mustaine and Metallica.
In your opinion, would Metallica have been even better had Mustaine stayed in the band or were they better off with Kirk?
Which sucks because Rob is a badass bass player and is wasting his talents in Metallica. Lars is a total d-bag and over rated as a drummer.Hetfield and Lars are the band. Everyone else is plug and play, imo.
Claypool auditioned but was not considered by the band because he was TOO good and they told him he needed to have his own band. So he continued on with Primus. Thank Satan for that. Primus rules!Another twist in the Metallica timeline is Les Claypool was almost in the band. Kind of crazy to think the world almost never got Megadeth or Primus based of a few decisions.

Les Claypool reflects on Metallica audition: "I didn't fit and they saw that"
Primus frontman Les Claypool recalls auditioning for the role of Metallica's new bassist following the tragic death of Cliff Burtonwww.loudersound.com
I didn't hate it.I'm a huge hard rock and nu-metal band but I have to make a confessions. I actually liked St. Anger. There, I said it. I got it off my chest. I can finally breathe.
Well, he has been hit in the head quite a few timesI didn't hate it.
And we could have had Hulk Hogan:

"I heard that Metallica needed a bass player and brother, I was writing letters, made a tape of myself playing and sent it. Never heard a word back." The 80s pop culture icon who made an unlikely bid to join the world's biggest metal band
This week, wrestling icon Hulk Hogan passed away aged 71. We revisit one of the strangest stories involving the Hulkster, which included the world's biggest metal bandwww.loudersound.com
Les Claypool **** like this is why I didn't get into MetallicaClaypool auditioned but was not considered by the band because he was TOO good and they told him he needed to have his own band. So he continued on with Primus. Thank Satan for that. Primus rules!
Fun fact: Primus guitarist Larry LaLonde played in one of the pioneering death metal bands, Possessed, prior to Primus.
Or Bob Stinson in the ******* Replacements.Steven Adler got kicked out of Guns and Roses for doing to many drugs. Slash and Duff were both heroin and coke addicts. Yet Adler was so far of the rails they kicked him out.
As a wrestling fan, one thing I've learned is if the Hulkster is talking about the Hulkster, don't believe it without more evidence.Well, he has been hit in the head quite a few times
One time after the WWF wrestled in Des Moines Jake the Snake and a few of them went to BJ's Hitching Post (strip club) The bartender told me they were a lot smaller than he would have thought. As a wrestling fan, one thing I've learned is if the Hulkster is talking about the Hulkster, don't believe it without more evidence.
That said, he would have had the look to be a metal bass player. Billed at 6'7" (so probably 6'4" at most) and 302 lbs (275 ?), jacked from roids and that mustache, that's money. Assuming he can actually play bass well.
Before I dumb your post, I’ll give you the chance to explain yourself.Metallica ceased to exist as soon as they met Bob Rock. *Disclaimer* - I am old.
Sounds like shite. It sounds like Lars is playing on an overturned trash can outside a Home Depot.
Has Dave displayed his talent outside of thrash metal/traditional megadeth/early Metallica sound?Kirk is really good, but Dave is a freakin' mad man on guitar. Metallica hasn't been good since And Justice For All. And since they booted Mustaine, we got Megadeth, who are way better than Metallica. Things worked out just fine.
Rust in Peace and Slayer's Reign in Blood are easily the two best thrash albums of all time.
I get the sentiment, but seriously? Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, Sad But True, Nothing Else Matters. We're talking absolutely legendary iconic songs. They certainly got produced no arguments there but Bob pushed them to be better musicians, not just a metal band.Metallica ceased to exist as soon as they met Bob Rock. *Disclaimer* - I am old.
Well, Megadeth is a thrash band so he has never needed to play anything else. He did have a side band years ago called MD.45, which was a bit different, but it was awful.Has Dave displayed his talent outside of thrash metal/traditional megadeth/early Metallica sound?
I don’t know the answer to my question but appreciate Kirk being able to do more than thrash metal.
Dave is a great talent but he's too stubborn and arrogant to admit he's one dimensional. James is a head case but he understood what it took to transcend his limitations from his origins. His lyrics are far more profound and his song writing skills far more diverse. They haven't really been good since Load but they still fire off a good song now and then in their washed up years.Well, Megadeth is a thrash band so he has never needed to play anything else. He did have a side band years ago called MD.45, which was a bit different, but it was awful.
