It's over, Cyclone fans. Either Rhoads goes...or the fans will. Iowa State athletics can't afford the latter. Sad, but true.

Time to take the hit and move on. Paul cannot even do better than Gene at this point. We need a super recruiter.

It's over. Just need to try to minimize the damage at this point.

To those people who said CPR shouldn't get another season because of the potential long term damaging effects, you were correct.

I concede. I was wrong.

Not sure. Attendance will go down but maybe not enough for JP to fire a 2-10 Rhoads. We'll have to see what happens in the stands at the end of the season.

Not sure of JP cares who or how many are in the stands if they bought tickets. Big donors might sway things, the regular fan in the stands is not. Seriously, nobody in big P5 sports gives a rip about the regular fans. Just sayin'.

Iowa fans all but left Kirk Ferentz for dead after last season. But from everything you hear, he took a LONG look at himself and how his program is run, and he put his ego aside and made changes. Look at the results.

Could it be that CPR needs to do something similar? Or is it too late?

I would like to say its too late, but with my gut telling me Pollard won't fire CSR, who knows?

There is no way that CPR survives another 2-10 season. I would love for him to win 5-6 games and prove that he is the right guy, but there is absolutely nothing I see on either side of the ball that indicates more than maybe one more win. Maybe it is the guys playing, but in the end the coaching staff is still responsible for that too. Have to keep cheering for the team, because that is what fans do, but the original poster is correct, without some miracle turn around, CPR is done.

We've already lost the three games that would have made that possible.

How many more chances does a guy deserve? We're on a collision course with 2-10... after going 2-10 last year... after going 3-9 the year before that. We might end up winning the same number of games over the last three full seasons (36 games) as Rhoads did in his first year with McCarney and Chizik recruits.

This isn't an abberration on the resume of a guy who's been to two Orange Bowls like Kirk... This is the pattern and it will be the new normal for Iowa State if we let it. We'll lower our already modest expectations of 6 wins most years (not even every year!) and resign ourselves to seeing if we can crack 4-8.

It is too late.

Not even close to the same situation. We don't have a cupcake filled schedule coming in 2016 like Iowa did this year. Next year with CPR would be the same old story of a 3 or 4 win season at best.

Curious, what do you think the record would be with Iowa's schedule up to this point? For the season?
