Incentives, Incentives, Incentives!!! Put the word out JP. Iowa State wants to win! Let the football world know they can earn a average Big 12 salary upfront and off the chart incentives. Follow the rules, win games, go to bowls, and reward the whole staff.

If we really want the program to change, it's gonna take some out of the box planning! It won't be easy, but as the old saying goes. "IF IT'S GOOD IT AINT EASY AND IF IT'S EASY IT AINT GOOD!"

Re: The Contradt

I don't think it's the lack of incentives that prevent Rhoads from being successful.

Truth is, there aren't that many good football coaches out there. Identifying them is hard enough. Selling Iowa State, even harder.

Re: The Contradt

We can't afford the average big 12 salary though

Re: The Contradt

Does anyone know how much the buyout for CPR is. I don't know if we have that much.

Re: The Contradt

We are so screwed. This really pisses me off. I have been a mixture of apathy and amusement at this single-wide-trailer fire of a mess.....but the money that is ****** away is insane. You could legitimately argue that you could make Sam Richardson a player-coach and have a better team performance hence forth. These coaches not good....F*&^ incentives, what about some liquidated damages?!?!?! They owe us! They expense everything, the get paid an insane amount. Not sure what the work hours are.....but watching tape of football games and practice isn't exactly slaving away at the old grist mill.
I feel sorry for Jaime......I see the caption contest photo and it sort of makes me sad....that guy has aged so much since getting here. I know he wants what is best, and it just went so wrong.

Yes ISU can. For one instead of paying a coach $15M over 10 years, then having to fire him before the contract is up you could pay him $15M over 5 years to be your coach.

And to think that just a few seasons ago people here were making fun of Iowa for their contract and buyout terms of Kirk Ferentz...

Re: The Contradt

Pretty stupid contract extension for a coach no one was looking to hire away.

Golden Parachutes for dismally failed CEOs and insane buyouts of loser Division I football coaches. Th rest of us fail horribly and we might qualify for some meager unemployment pay.

Merika!

At the time of the contract extension it was perceived to be a good move. Also the salaries and ranking of Big 12 Coaches and Coordinators.

Maybe I should have started this thread with "Excuses, Excuses, Excuses" Expect more! Demand more!

Yeah,, but we thought we had a good cheap deal back then.

Pretty comical indeed. It was becoming comical for me though in 2013 when it was quite clear to me Rhoads was going to fail hard.

We should cancel the football program and bring back Baseball.

You do know that Rhoads has a contract at the bottom of the Big 12 right now, right? We'll have to raise the amount significantly to even offer that average Big 12 salary.

Re: The Contradt

Yeah,, but we thought we had a good cheap deal back then.

It is still pretty cheap. I guess we could have followed the Kansas model.

Charlie Weis got about $12.5 million from Kansas. He was there a little over 2 years. Turner Gill received about $10 million.

Those 2 coaches coached a total of 5 seasons. They were paid their full contracts. That is $22.5 million.

The buyout of Rhoads contract is $750,000 per season. Runs through 2021. Worst case scenario would be 6 years X $750,000 = $4.5 million..

That looks relatively cheap still in comparison. Longevity in the contract was considered to be a positive thing for Iowa State at the contract extension. The contract is not an overwhelming burden IMO if a change is made. We are saving around $1 million per year from what we were paying Fred compared to Prohm.

Hope Prohm has success. Will hate to see the meltdown if our basketball team struggles this coming year. And by struggling I mean anything less than Top 10. Top 25 and the fanbase will be screaming.

This AD is bringing in over $28 mil a year in new TV revenue that just 2 years ago it didn't have. The SEZ will be paid off over the next 15-20 years at near zero interest. This non sense that we don't have funds is non sense. Wait until JP sees lost revenue in the millions next year when 35,000 fans attend the first game next year instead of 61,000. Keeping CPR could cost this AD nearly $5-$6 million in lost revenue per year just from a significant drop in attendance...at least.

I just agreed with and added to Stormin's post. May God have mercy on my soul! :pconfused::pconfused::pconfused::pconfused:
