Tailgating Saturday was my best opposing stadium experience ever. People were constantly stopping us and thanking us for making the trip. Everyone was welcoming and good natured. Made the long drive worth it even though my team failed to show up. Thanks Mizzou fans.

I'll second this. Four of us made the trip to Columbia and the people couldn't have been nicer. What a great change from Hawkeye and Husker fans! Even after we got demolished, people were polite and not in our face (only one really drunk guy, but that's to be expected). Tailgating set up is less than ideal as it's spread all over the place, but the fans were very welcoming and friendly. Definitely Midwesterners and not Southeasterners (DID YOU HEAR THAT, MIZZOU?).

The only thing I was surprised about was the "gameday" atmosphere. Very dull. Not that the on the field product was anything they needed to cheer very hard for, but with the exception of the constant MIZ- ZOU cheer, it was pretty lax. Also, how in the world does Farout Field hold 70,000?! It looks/feels smaller than the Jack!

Anways, great trip and time. IF Mizzou is still in the conference in 2 years, I'll definitely be making the trip back.

I agree. The mizzou fans before the game were friendly and we had no problems in the stadium. Only had a couple drunk frat guys yell at us as we walked back to our car, but no problem. B12 fanbases as a whole have always treated me well on the road. I've been to Nebby, OSU, Mizzou, KSU, Colorado and Texas and never had a problem. UCONN was another story, I hope those losers rot in C-USA.

Obviously you have never worn the black and gold around Jack Trice. I have never heard so many "**** you's" or "**** the hawks" in my life. I think most fans at most stadiums(including IC) are pretty nice but every place has their idiots

I agree the fans were freindly overall. I got a bit angry when some of them were chanting "SEC." But I guess the people of missouri belong with people from Arkansas and Mississippi.

I also had a great tailgating experience! A little different story after the game though...but overall the fans were great!

CyDude16's head is going to explode when he sees this thread. That said, I only dealt with a few **** heads yesterday.

I have always enjoyed Missouri, and all of the old Big 8 really. You have a minority of dumb young people and redneck types at all of them, but mostly it's a great time. The only place I really didn't like was TxTech, but it was the only time I ever made down there. It was my goal to make a road game to every conference team, and I still haven't made it to Waco.

I spent a few hours in the lots between JTS and Hilton before the Iowa State/Iowa game this year and there were plenty of Iowa fans there.......and I never once heard anyone yell any obscenities at those fans. My wife and I even talked about how it was the most calm pre-Iowa State/Iowa game atmosphere that we had seen in Ames in a long time.

Obviously, those situations do happen, but like you said, every stadium has their idiots.

Mizzou fans were very polite. Tailgating is different with it being so spread out, but it was a good time. Would definitely go back in two years if they're still in the conference.

Our group of four college guys had a great time too. We were blown away by Mizzou fans and kept saying during the game that even if we ran into a few bad apples on the walk back to the car it was still impressive, but we never did. Not one person said a single negative thing to us the entire day. Instead, we got countless "welcome to Missouri" or "hope you have fun in Columbia" type greetings. Well done Missouri fans.

Last time we played at Mizzou I went down to the game and sat right in the middle of the student section with a couple of my friends. Never had one bad thing happen to me and everyone was pretty cool. I told them the same would happen in our student section last year and can't say the same. Was really embarrassed by our students and the way they treated my buddies who were just standing around watching a game (they respected being in our student section).

I felt very welcomed at all times too. Great tailgate. I will agree that even with 15k more people in attendance than at Jack Trice, JT game day atmosphere is much better. Even with the loss, I had a great time and glad I made the trip.

Anytime you go to an opposing stadium and the fans welcome you with open arms they know that Your Team is a fricking PATSY AND A BLOW OUT IS IMMINENT...

Hellsbells boys in the old days down at Columbia farout field we used to have to fight our way into and out of the flipping stadium....

They knew that we were no fricking patsy and we came to win and usually did!!!!

Made the trip down with a few other friends, and minus the actual game, the experience was great and the atmosphere was great for being an opposing fan. Dealt with a few ********, but overall I was pleasantly surprised.

I do wish they could come up with a different chant other than M-I-Z Z-O-U. Got annoying, though that was probably our fault for playing such crappy defense

Since you did not hear any thing, it must mean it did not happen:rolleyes: My experience at Kinnick is much the same as the one you just described. I have never heard much animus at all directed at fans of other schools but many clone say the opposite.
