As I said before, as soon as the pairings were announced, I figured it would be UK vs Iowa State in the Round of 32. I'm not just a diehard UK fan, but also an avid follower and student of college basketball in general, so I knew how dangerous your team was. Now that we've played, my opinion hasn't changed.

I'm sure your game plan was to take away our strength -- the paint -- and allow us to shoot threes, which is our perceived weakness. But those who claim we can't shoot threes know nothing about our team. We don't shoot a lot of threes because we typically dominate inside. Why take threes when you can get dunks and layups? So while we didn't take a lot of threes this year, we hit a good percentage of the threes we took. We shoot 38% as a team. We rank around #250 in the country in 3PT attempts, but we're in the top 50 in 3PT percentage. When we take them, we hit a lot of them.

So, while this wasn't a typical game for us style-wise, I give your team credit for it. You did what you had to do to win. We got nothing from a 2nd team all-american (Gilchrist) and our 2nd leading scorer (Lamb) spent much of the game in foul trouble. I thought the refs sucked. Way too many touch fouls called, both ways. That shouldn't happen in the NCAA tourney.

My last point: Royce White. What a player! The only thing he lacks is a shooting stroke. Inside 15 feet he's a monster. We couldn't handle him for awhile, because no one on our team wanted to take a charge from him to stop his drives to the rim. But that changed when he said he was the best player on the floor. I think it was a 42-42 game when he did that, and it lit a fire in our team. That's just not something you do. Our players don't talk trash or hot dog in any way, so when Royce White did that, I think it changed the game. From that moment, we went on something like a 22-2 run. I think he's a great player, but that was a bad decision by him.

Again, thanks for allowing me to post here. This is a great site.

You call that college basketball? That was like the damn Miami Heat. How fun is that? Great game. I'm sure they will win it all. Yawn.

You have a talented team and played lights out. We have no excuses except missing our usual treys, we just ran into a buzz saw. Can't imagine anybody beating you if you play like that. Good luck.

Are you blind?

I don't agree with the "no hot-dogging" comment...but good write up from a UK perspective. I do wish Royce wouldn't have said that.

You guys will not be beat if you play like that. Thanks for staying classy, some of the uk fans on your board and on twitter have no class whatsoever. Congrats on your national title.

Royce said that statement to our own bench.

Royce has the utmost respect for the game and the other team, you see him joking with other players and coaches lots of times. He was trying to light a fire on our bench, because to that point it was pretty much 100% him with help from Allen.

You shoot 38% from 3 on the season, and 98% tonight. That was the difference. Not saying the only difference, but the biggest.

I appreciate your commentary and you seem very polite, which is always appreciated. I would say that I believe you have a little bit of blinders on if you don't think your talks trash or hot dogs. That being sad, when you are as good of a team as you actually are it's difficult to not make it look like you are showing off. Your talent is just that good. All that being said, I am proud our boys fought to the end. We hit few more threes in that game, and we are in it. The Cyclones proved that they have some real talent.

Your home court advantage was awesome / / / come play at the Hilton and see how the tables can turn.

yep. I have always wondered if UK fans are like Nebraska fans during football season and root for another team.

You're welcome. We like to keep it classy here. We have a few exceptions but I won't name names. We shoot 38% from the arc as well. Just not tonight. Good luck the rest of the way. I see a championship in your near future especially if you keep playing like you did tonight.

Eh....I don't think that was on Royce. You have a great team that was on fire tonight from distance. Oh, and Royce was right.
True statement. And yeah I'm sure when they saw Royce say that they said, "man that makes us so mad, we're gonna go out and hit every single shot we throw up." Don't think it works like that.
