Thad Matta Out at OSU

My prediction might be 6 months earlier than I thought......

Mick Cronin seems like he'd be a helluva fit. OSU should be able to throw more money at him than Cincy

Reported that Gene Smith decided it was time because of the lack of progress on recruiting.

Its tough to see Mack leaving his alma mater, which is an underrated job, the three names listed would all be great hires but they all have pretty good job. It'll be interesting how much cash tOSU will be tossing around. Miller would have probably been their best candidate, I bet they regret not getting a shot at him.

Enough. You can bet on that.

That 2015 recruiting class is what did him in. I'm not sure even one of those guys is still in their program.

So put him at a school where he can compete with us better?

I hate to say it, but it is always going to be hard to compete with OSU no matter the coach. When was the last time we really competed with OSU for a recruit?

Has tOSU really been that much of a power player in recruting lately, though? The last real high profile player I can recall going through that program was D'angelo Russell, and that was almost three years ago.

Yeah, they really haven't, but I would expect any new coach to be bringing in Top 50 talent pretty easily. Maybe I have too high a view of Ohio State's position in the grand scheme of CBB, though.

They've had several top-50ish guys not pan out lately. Keita Bates-Diop, Jaesean Tate, Jaquan Lyle, Austin Grandstaff, Daniel Giddens-- all guys that either transferred or never really developed.

I think they're a sleeping giant. Talent rich recruiting area, unlimited resources. Football will always come first there, but it's a really good job.
