Texas Tech REPRIMANDED

I must have missed all this. So...the refs made the incorrect call, the Big 12 privately acknowledged that fact to TT, Hocutt went public with that, and the Big 12 fined TT for publicly stating that the Big 12 admitted to the blown call?

and it wasn't just any blown call. It cost them the game. IT was basically like our call a few years ago against Texas that cost us that game.

Yep. The Big 12 used to publicly acknowledge officiating errors but it sounds like they changed their bylaws that all officiating issues will now be handled internally.

Solid policy. Good thing that didn't blow up in their faces.
I get the benefits of handling internally (prevent damage to the image of the conference) but does it get the same accountability when it's handled internally vs publicly?

It seems to me for the K-State game in 2017, fans were blowing up JP's inbox to go public about the officiating at the end of the game (3 picked up flags and missed illegal procedure calls). JP in a very general sense said something along the lines that just because potential errors are not being addressed publicly doesn't mean it isn't being handled internally. I really feel that was JP's way of saying to fans ISU is handling it with the Big 12. Who knows though if anything came out of that.

I see zero value in handling it internally. I think most people realize refs are human and make mistakes. Why not make the process more transparent? If there are controversial calls where they feel the need to defend the call, do it. If there are controversial calls they got wrong, apologize and explain what the ref saw. Again, I think people are able to realize mistakes are made, they'd just like an explanation and an apology.

I just think that generally speaking it's probably better to own it instead of trying to sweep it under the rug (or handle it internally, or whatever they want to call it). Now the Big 12 looks bad twice - first by their officials blowing a call and then again by a pissed-off AD who takes their private admission public for what amounts to a drop in the bucket. Why not just skip the second part and give the standard "We screwed up...our goal is continuous improvement...blah blah blah" type of statement?

It was Van Vark, so you know he's not getting canned because he's consistently awful. With our luck we'll have him for the Texas game

hahaha - it appears he slips a 'Yeah baby!' or something like that in there as well. Ridiculous

Does anyone have a video of the play? I checked quick on YouTube and search with no luck. All the :"highlights" skip over the play.
