With only one more year left before the current GOR ends, the payout may be more manageable now that there is only one year left to pay.

If my team could no longer compete in its current conference I’d be looking for the quickest way out too.
is it possible for the big 12 to keep them in conference, but not schedule them in any sport? Like yeah you are still a big 12 member, but we don't want you actually playing games.
I truly believe they are desperately trying to avoid losses to the incoming expansion teams.
Texas wants no part of playing Houston in Houston and the B12 needs to schedule that game.
They will never say it but this is 100% a big part of their push to get out early. Think about it, they are literally going to pay millions and millions of dollars in order to not play some of those games.
I'm really hoping this doesn't happen.
The OU vs Texas championship game was absolutely amazing and had a TV rating that wasn't far off from the B1G and SEC championship games!

Or not schedule any home games for them. A 9 game road trip for football? If I'm the commissioner, what do I have to lose by being petty, they're already leaving.
Them paying money and getting out of the conference is the best case scenario IMO. GTFO and pay us, good riddance
