Texas, Oklahoma, and $EC? Thoughts?

It would suck for us.

you know Matt. Would he stick around to coach in the pac 12? That’s our best option, save this not happening.

No real impact. We'll continue our streak of national titles well beyond 2022 regardless if OU and UT want to continue to ride our coattails or not. They'll get crushed in the SEC and become irrelevant while ISU becomes the national power in the Midwest.

The tectonic shift seems inevitable. Texas and Oklahoma will be part of that, but the other 8 schools in the Big Xii will not be. The ubers will be a semi-pro league.

As for ISU, either the remaining Big Xii will remain intact and add a few schools (BYU, Cincinnati, Memphis, etc.) or a merger of Pac and Big Xii seems inevitable.

Either way, college football is changing.

Let's Go State!

That’s an entertaining thread discussing NIL impact in this:

“OU just landed the top QB in the country.

Does anyone really think that Norman Meat Rubs or Oklahoma Chicken Fryers featuring the Tom Hayes Chicken Fingers Deluxe was going to hold tight until OU was going to the SEC.

Didn’t Rattler already sign with Cane’s?”

goemaw and surlyhorns are the best college forums.

this place is like church and it gets a little boring

IMO there are more things which can backfire for the SEC than go right:
- Draft turnover will lower the product
- Dilution of the pie will lower eyeballs
- Dilution of funds due to much bigger NIL
- Dilution of W/L for egocentric OK and TX
- Tie to ESPN may be solid but won't withstand Google/Amazon
- Absorbing NCAA enforcement procedure will be a financial burden
- Insurance for premium athletes will become a greater financial burden
- Academic standard enforcement will be difficult

Feel free to chime in!

I’m on the super pessimistic end. This is the beginning of the end of college football/basketball as we know it.

Iowa State is basically screwed. Best case scenario, the PAC 12 creates an east division and adds all the Big 12 leftovers.
The best case is for Iowa State to join the Big10. In the meantime ...let's all enjoy this year. BTW, Screw big money, greed, the coming players' union, and those crooked lawyers for killing the Golden Goose.
