As an Indians fan I am excited about this and how quickly this took. He is a players coach, but can be a hardass when needed unlike Acta who let the players walk all over him and was too knee-jerk when he had to put the foot down.

How does this look from the rest of the AL Central's fans?

It's a great hire, but it won't mean much until they put players on the roster that actually play a full season instead of just a first half and disappear the rest of the way.

As a White Sox fan I have always kept an eye on Francona's teams. Been told he was livid when he was in the White Sox organization and the White Sox settled on Terry Bevington to replace Gene Lamont rather than Francona...hindsight makes me wonder what the White Sox were thinking as well! But I don't fear a manager at all...I fear an owner willing to spend the money it takes to have a down season and still win the division (Tigers...I am talking about you)!
