Tebow and the Beef

I thought this was going to be about Tebow's upcoming buddy cop sitcom on NBC.

I truly feel awful for Tebow. The guy is picked on and scrutinized day in day out for no legitimate reason.

The media is a bunch of ***hats.

here I thought the thread title meant dahliaclone's prediction was coming true. Not that I would be terribly surprised.

That would be great. I would love to see him play. That league is cheap fun.

Never gonna happen.

Only in the world we live in today would a guy like Tim Tebow be hated so much for being a fantastic person

Most of the animosity towards Tebow seems to be centered around the media ****storm that follows him everywhere he goes as opposed to Tim Tebow himself.

Yeah and nobody can distinguish the coverage of him from the person himself. I have always wanted to hate Tebow but when you actually look at him as a person there is no logical reason to dislike him especially when I was a huge Iverson fan.

This right here is what ticks me off.

Who the hell cares about his quarterback ability in the NFL??

The guy is one of the most generous, motivated, hard working, honest guys in the game today, and what do we do? We try to tear him down for not being like everyone else. Complete BS.

on a serious note, it's the whole "goody two shoes" persona that some people can't stand. It feels fake, even if it's not. It's not all his fault, either, but he's certainly done nothing to discourage the image, so he must be okay with people hating him for it.

there have been far worse QBs that don't get the negative criticism that Tebow does. It's pathetic and says a lot about society

no it doesn't. The whole "making fun of the goody-goody" routine is nothing new to human culture.

how many of them have the exposure he does? And before you say "He didn't ask for the exposure," he absolutely knew what was going on, and he has capitalized off of his image to a great degree. Make no mistake, Tim Tebow has benefitted greatly from all the "hate."

So he should kill a couple of hookers to lose that image? It worked for Craig James.

the attention even seems to be split, in my view. The ones who adore him like the second coming of Jesus, and the ones who like to deride him because of his beliefs. Of course, he continues to be very open with the media and the public with his beliefs. Which is his choice to do......but I think that results in more coverage and more attention - positive and negative.

I don't hate the guy - it's nice to see a home schooled kid do well at something, especially sports..........though can I still say that after Monday? It gets old when all you hear is his name though, whether or not that's entirely his fault.

Personally, in regards to professional athletes, I usually only care about how they perform. Them being a great person usually only makes me an even bigger fan or, on the other side, makes me hate them if they are bad person. Iverson I liked because I loved how he played ball. Didn't approve of his personal life but I wasn't paying to watch his personal life. On Tebow, I'm pretty much in the middle. Don't dislike or like him. If he were a bad person I would likely dislike him. Since he is a great one I guess, if pressed, I would have to say I like him. There will be people who dislike him because of his religious beliefs all while attacking people who disapprove of others beliefs or acts.

Oh, so don't be who you are. Make sure you temper your goodness.

not what I'm saying at all. In fact, I don't think Tim should change a thing. It's given him lots of exposure. I'm simply stating that the idea of people being sick of a goody two shoes is nothing new, and is not unique to Tim Tebow or even this day and age.

They dont have the same exposure for a reason. Tim Tebow won 2 national championships and a Heisman. His NFL record as a QB is impressive. And to top it off he's a generally good dude in a league that's got it's fair share of bad dudes.

he earned the exposure from working hard and winning. He didn't earn the hate for no reason.
