I would have been shocked had he played. He did his work in college, time to go make money. And this helps us into next year because we won’t have him, so it will be nice to get some play and reps in a live game without him. It’s a win-win for everyone imo.

It is amazing how fast it's become expected for players entering the draft to not play in the bowl games.
Honestly in a NIL world, his coming back to ISU this year was surprising/huge. I hope that because ISU has a good culture that he won't be an outlier but in the football world I think he will be.
If this were a more prestigious bowl, maybe he plays?

I don't blame the kid, he has a bright future and has given us everything he had.
Look at Tennessee…. Iowa’s opponent in their bowl game…. they have a bunch of starters sitting out…. all their best players.
So that bowl game will be an absolute joke. Won’t mean anything whatsoever.
