Super Bowl Massacre Averted?

Wow, unstable. All because of a rejected liquor license for his bar? Good grief. Whats next, girl scouts mowing down neighbors for only buying 2 boxes of thin mints instead of 5?

I wonder how close he could have gotten.

Good question. Not a gun expert here, all I know is that this is considered an assault rifle so he probably would have had to get fairly close. That being said, the crowd prior to or right after a Super Bowl is probably spread out over several miles.

-550 meters (individual/point targets)
-800 meters (area targets)

Max effective rates of fire: 45 rounds per minute

Mind you this is just with the iron sights, you throw on a nice scope and you can really reach out an touch someone. The thing to remember is that this nut case is the danger not the rifle.

Whatever. Have you seen how expensive they've become?

That's not fair because it'll never happen, I mean who could only buy 2 boxes of Thin Mints???

I don't think the question is how expensive have they become. The REAL question is what are they now putting in those cookies that have us so addicted to them that they can get away with price gouging us customers? Next year it's gonna be something like $5 a box and most of us will be like, "well, aren't you sweet? I'll take 10."

But I guess li'l Suzy's gotta get her badge one way or another...

totally ... I'm doing some wieght loss challenge at my gym, I'm doing pretty good so far, but I can already see cookie delivery day is gonna be a bad (but oh so good at the same time)

the rifle just makes the nut case more effective.

Whew! I am safe - I buy way over the 5...

The AR -15 is NOT the military's weapon of choice as the article indicates. If you see any troop, from any branch, in combat with an AR they pissed in someone's cherios. It does look like the M-16 but is not the same rifle at all (personally I think the M-16 is junk and never carried it if I could avoid it).

The M4 is the current weapon of choice, which is a modified M-16, basically (they share 80% common parts). The AR-15 is more or less an M-16 that just does semi-auto, as opposed to 3 round burst (A2) or full auto (A1 or original M16).

None of them are particularly accurate at range, but they are assault rifles, after all, not sniper rifles.

Yet another reason I love this board. You just never know what direction a thread is going to head. Super Bowl Massacre to Girl Scouts. Where else can you get this type of diversity?

Did someone mention caramel delights? Those are definitely worth three bucks a box.
