Student vehicle title

My daughter just got her minor's school driving license and we're looking into getting her a cheap car to drive back and forth to high school. The question I have is whether to put the title in her name or my name. It seems we can get a better multiple vehicle/line discount in my name but I'm wondering if putting it in her name would better insulate us from liability. Or does it not make any difference if she's a minor and dependent?

You own it, I would put it in your name.

Ask your insurance agent if you can assign her to the car that you are purchasing for her. I assume it's value will be less than your other vehicles.

An umbrella liability policy should help too.

She's your dependent, she has to be on your insurance and she is your responsibility/liability even if you could title the car in your name.
