Oklahoma and Texas are under contract to play the next five seasons in the Big 12. 2021-2025. If they do not play the last 4 years of their contracts, they will owe between $100M and $150M each to exit after this year. So, why dissolve the Big 12 before 2026 and give them a free pass to exit.

They say there is nothing left in the Big 12 after the Texas losers (29-25 last 6 years in the Big 12), and Oklahoma, leave.----- Iowa State is not chum.

ISU needs to hand OK and TX big losses this year, and cheer for the other 7 to chew them up also.

When OU and TX play in the SEC, they will end up as fair to middling teams with no possible national championships, much as what happened to Nebraska in the B1G at 44-41; and Missouri at 35-39 and Texas A&M at 42-31 against SEC teams since leaving the Big 12. Fans want winners, ask Nebraska. SEC money may look good now but when the losses mount the fans will turn to the NFL instead.

Think about a reconstituted Big 12: lose WVa to the ACC (in 2026) and add UNLV (nice new pro stadium), BYU, Arizona, Arizona State and Houston = 12 again. Alternate to Houston is to bring back Nebraska as they have disappeared in the B1G and have regretted it ever since. (Forget Colorado). The adding and subtracting of teams would be staggered as teams are able to leave their conference contracts. As necessary much of this would need to be secret as long as possible so as to avoid the bruhaha that came from TX and OK.

Cyclones for 2022 National Champs!!!!✌

Much of what you've posted is a pipe dream. Without UT and OU in the conference for the long run we're not pulling Pac 12 teams. It's just not happening.

But most importantly, if Big 12 teams have soft landing spots, i.e., ISU to the Big 10, it makes absolutely no sense to hold UT and OU for that long because it prevents us from moving on to our next destination. That's called "cutting off your nose to spite your face".

Stay ranked the whole season and make another good bowl game - that will put us in a good position to land somewhere quality.

Be pushing for the playoff this year, and I would say that really catapults us into some other league I would hope (big ten or pac 12).

If we have to stay in the Big 12 long term, add UCF, BYU, Cincinnati, and/or maybe Univ of Houston

If Iowa State is still in the current B12 in 2025 I will donate $15mil to whatever charity you want, and I make $15/hour right now. This is gonna be done before the first snap of '22 and it's almost unbelievable to think otherwise imo.

What we need to recognize is that we only have two choices. Fight to reconstitute the Big 8/12 or beg to join the B1G and fall under the cloud of the U of Iowa. To them we will always be the little irritating child that needs to be ignored. If this is what you want, than so be it. If we join with them we will lose our uniqueness and look like Texas vs Texas A&M-Texas Tech, Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State, and Kansas vs Kansas State. Which is considered best and which only a shadow.

Conferences and memberships have always been fluid. Remember that ISU was once part of the Missouri Valley, a conference that still exists, though with totally different membership from when we belonged.

I do not care whatsoever about any cloud, B1G membership would mean stability and much more money than we ever made in the B12, much less a reconstituted B12 w/o OU/Texas. I mean, just win and it'll be fine, your hok friends are gonna feel that way no matter what anyway.

Sign me up to fall under the cloud to be overshadowed by Iowa in the BIG.

If we're fortunate to join the Big 10 we're doing so under our own merits; not to fall under some Iowa cloud. GTFO of here with that bull****.

I agree - plan A - join B1G as soon as they'll have us. Plan B - add those other schools to the Big 12. My question is if we're going plan B, do we really need to do it now and/or before we get the OU/TX buyout? does it really make THAT much difference if we add them now, vs say after this/next season? I think we all know they aren't waiting until 2025, so make them flinch first.
