State Wrestling

1. City West coach is not an example of a great head coach.
From everything I"ve heard, the guy is gigantic turd of a human being. I was surprised that the guy was excited for once since he was ****** at the kids that lost, and indifferent at the qualifiers during districts.

I spent time around him a few years ago when I was volunteering at a CR program. I've heard him called everything you can think of and then some. I think anyone could be successful if they were handed Iowa/Iowa State quality talent year after year. The coaches and programs that do it right are the ones that get respected.

So does he just look the part of a turd, or does he wear it as well?

+1. i thought the same thing.

In reference to Meeks, I don't really know that it was a "lung timeout" as stated. I've watched him in several matches this year, many of which go all 3 periods. Conditioning isn't his issue, I'm guessing he had something else wrong with him.

By the way, future ISU kids looked good at 171 and 189. We went 3 of 4 in the 2A and 3A. 2A 171 England (future ISU) beat Weatherman (future UNI) and 3A 171 Moreno (future ISU) won. Then at 2A 189 Volker (future ISU) lost but 3A Gadson won over Riley.

He was gassed and had lost momentum...the other kid was pushing it. He won so mission accomplished but he was hurting at the end

i thought weatherman was the better wrestler personally.

Gadson was scary quick and seemed to reach across the entire mat. Seems as though no one should of had a close match with him. His semifinal was 6-4 over the Indianola kid. I just hope effort doesn't become an issue with him. My confidence is in KJ to not let that happen. I also love the depth of family history with Voelker, Gadson, and Moreno.

So did I personally. But hes likely not to be a starter until late in his career and if he is that much of a goer then KJ will have fun molding him. U can only recruit so many kids to a weight class and although I would have loved to have weatherman at ISU I would say we wont be hurting any. We have Ward, beard and spangler in the room... We are going to add, Voelker, England, Moreno and Gadson. Thats a lot of depth in the upper weights.

Really proud of the young Cyclones, especially the dominating performances by Gadsen and Moreno. I also thought that though Weatherman and England were very close, England looked a little stronger and really gave a gutty performance. If Voelker played a little more defense in the last few seconds he would have been a state champ too, and it looked like he was pretty upset about it on the awards stand. All in all a great night for the young Clones and some good talent for KJ to work with.

Where is the kid that beat Voelker going, or is he and undergrad. Also is Riley committed to somewhere?

Dont know about #1, but Riley hasnt committed anywhere. The rumor has been that his family wants a lot of money(Scholarship) for his services. ISU supposedly wasnt willing to give what they wanted. He will be a good get for someone. Has wrestled KNight really well over the last few years.
