Starting Lineup?

What do you think will be the starting lineup now with the new transfer + the new freshmen?

IT's hard to say since there is a new coach. Everyone is starting on on a clean slate and that means that everyone is going to have fight for starting positions. With McDermott, we knew who most of the starters were going to be because he seemed to be loyal to those who he designated as the starters. Who the starters will be also depends on the offense he is going to run.

PG - DG
SG - Scotty
SF - Ejim
PF - Dendy
C/PF - JV

This is just going off of what I have seen, I have not seen many of the new players videos.

my only input is that the Northern Illinios transfer will be a great off the bench guy to start the year. might work his way into starting line up by big xii time, otherwise will be a quality 6th man.

DG
Scotty
Andersen or Phillips
JVB
Dendy

Would be really surprised to see anyone else crack it if they are all here next year. Maybe Ejim but I expect a 3 guard lineup.

DG, Scotty, Phillips, Dendy, JVB... I think we'll start the season out like this anyway.

I can see the possibility of a few decent "sixth" man types, and I'd like to see FH run them out there early and often.

I think we have two combo guards in DG and Phillips, with DG running more of the point. Don't forget about Scotty though. I can see him starting.

Ejim starting, but hopefully McKnight and Godfrey (both athletic enough) can really push Mel there. I think they can both push Dendy, especially Godfrey.

JVB is most likely a starter, but again, watch out for Godfrey and McKnight.

When all is said and done, I think it's going to be:

DG
Phillips
Ejim
Dendy
JVB

Maybe more importantly is that second unit. Possibly something like this:

DG
Anderson
Scotty
McKnight
Godfrey

I just don't know enough about Railly to speculate.

I don't see DG coming off the floor all too often, at least this early in the game. Every other position, IMO, is up in the air.

I think our small lineup will be our best one. I'm not sure if we'll start these guys but I think it would work well against many teams.
DG
Phillips
Christopherson
Mcknight
Dendy

Speculation is fun and all...I'm not against that.

However, I'm just happy we will be fielding a team! It was looking dicey for awhile.

here's my predictions the next 4 years if we can get Uthoff, Paige and Jok.
DG -1yr,Phillips-1yr, Paige next 4yrs
Phillips 1-yr, Babb 2yrs, Jok next 4yrs
Ejim 1-yr then a toss up between Ejim, Cook and Uthoff
Godfrey 4-yrs but Mcknight will get minutes as well
Dend 1yr (hopefully) Railey the next 3 yrs

Wow! If we get Uthoff, Paige, AND Jok... I don't care who starts. That would be beyond awesome.

I don't remember it being this wide open since Mac first took the job. I am sure I will be able to tell you the starting line-up once the CCL starts.

Pulling the old morgan ball with 3 guards:
Scotty-Good floor general
Anderson-Big 2 Guard: Could be the bonafide scorer of the lineup
DG-Slasher...Seems like a better fit than as PG...Can't find an open man to save his life....As evidenced by last year
Dendy-Low post presence....Best post player...Needs to be more consistent
JVB- Foreign-style of big man like Dirk Nowitzki: Creates mismatches by playing further away from the basket....
First 2 off the bench:
Ejim
Godfrey

Vanderbeken

It's natural to pencil Vanderbeken in at PF, but based on his play in the 08/09 season I just don't think he does enough things well to start. He was basically a 3 point shooter.

IMO if he's going to start, his game needs to look like a couple of kids that the Longhorns had a few years ago- Bodicker and Buckman. It's OK to have a post guy who can drain the three, but he also needs to get 6-7 rpg. If Vanderbeken can't do that, I don't think he starts.

I think we'll see:

Garrett
Christopherson
Phillips or Anderson
McKnight
Dendy

The biggest thing that scares me about next year's team is the lack of a 3 point shooter outside of Scott- I hope Garrett, Phillips & Anderson can at least be threat & make 35-40%.
