Fanatics,

I recently moved to the St. Louis area, Alton (IL) to be exact. I have good roommates, but they are always busy and poor college students. What is there to do in the St. Louis metro area fun for fresh college grads?

Specifically, I am interested in
1. Good Barbeque
2. Places I can party in St. Louis that are fun for younger guys and relatively cheap (preferably near the train station, but doesn't have to be).

Any recommendations will be appreciated

went there for a Royals Cards series, bachelor party. We lost a friend, cops told us he was probably dead bc "thats what happens here" so, ya, I wouldn't go out much if I were you. Most dangerous city in the US.

I've only stayed in the Westport Plaza area. Lots of good places to eat out there. There are a few sushi places around Stl that are pretty awesome. If you find The Drunken Fish, I recommend it.

well, I wouldn't want to get murdered by crystal meth tweakers, but I do want to go out there once just to see how it is. Otherwise Ill stick to hanging out with my roommates and their college friends probably.

I'm also going to check out the Alton Dam when it warms up, see if I can hook one of those lunker catfish
Blue catfish receives world record status from the IGFA

Fast Eddies Bon Air. One of the best bars I have ever been to. And your in luck its in Alton. Soulard area which is just east of the Ballpark is a good time, and the riverfront has good bars. South City is also full of good bars and good italian. Eat at BlueBerry Hill its by Washington U. in St Louis the best burgers and there are tons of bars down there.

Blueberry Hill is on the Del Mar Loop. Also there is a great bbq place on the Illinois side in Ofallon, the name is escaping me now.

People are right about Pappy's. Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. Best BBQ I have ever had (sorry Battles).

Schlafly's Tap Room was also nice. We went before you could get it in Iowa, but we had a really nice meal there.

I have an anti-recommendation.....don't eat Emo's pizza. People will tell you how great it is, but resist. Pizza is a food that you cannot mess up but somehow they found a way. I spent a nice week in St Louis and unfortunately emo's is the only thing I will remember for the rest of my life because it was just that bad.

Ted Drewes frozen custard

EDIT: And in response to the post right above mine... Imo's Pizza is something everyone should try once

Imo's pizza is not fit to feed wild boars. Made from provel cheese which is an oil refinery by-product I believe.

Went to Fast Eddies like the first day I was here because it is a only a few blocks from my house, but it was a weeknight so it was mostly old people there for the 99¢ half pound burger. It was an interesting place though, they claim to be the #1 volume bar in the world and I could probably see how as it is always jampacked.

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try some of those places when I get paid.

Ah yes ketchup and cardboard, I don't get the love affair they have with it either.

I went to a rams game when I was in high school and had Imo's and ted drewes.
I remember the custard being awesome and I don't remember the pizza at all, so it couldn't have been amazing or terrible.

Pretty excited to try this pappy's joint.

You live on the wrong side of the river.
-Fast Eddies is a great time and cheap
-The loop is a good time
-Soulard is a great time
-Washington St.
-Westport is too far and not worth the hike
