I am sure a lot of this has been posted, but:
Overall, positive is depth. Still lack upper-echelon guys, but less holes. Negative- too many fumbles and drops.
-Zero separation at QB. All four could/should get a chance. Most comfortable with Barnett. Best combination of feel for the game and play making. I do not think his arm is as strong as JT and SJ, so I was impressed that he looked as good on such a windy day. Hopefully he can get better at the vertical passing.
-Willie Scott. I was surprised to hear Burnham mention his name a week ago, but I can see why. If he could just get his size up to where our small DE's have been, he may help us win some games in the future. Maybe he just knows the plays, but today he was the best DL at getting off-blocks. It was crazy. Not really a speed guy. Clearly not shoving guys around. Almost like he was a LB on a contain blitz, then when someone comes his way he squirts in there.
-OL could use Hughton and Tuftee's size. A lot of good young talent that needs more time in the weight room. Close to having a roster of winning Big 12 linemen.
-DL in general looked a lot more like a bunch of fighters than in the past. Probably no true playmakers, but definitely a "not get beat" group. We know about Rump, Jake, and Laing, but I thought Woods and Jensen look like they belong. For being only 18/19 freshman Jensen looked good. Has some natural ability. If Kron moves to the inside and Pompey can be the double-team type guy, I feel better about the future after the 3 upperclassmen leave
-With Horne the WR may be better. Seems like we have tons of "intriguing" guys, but not anyone that is a game changer when you remember what other teams in the Big 12 have. Money, Horne, Lenz are a good start. West and Jennert have some ability to be playmakers, but seem inconsistent. Gray, Young, and Blanton are decent athletes, but probably filler types.
-RB is like QB, but probably with relatively better players. Woody is becoming more of the fullback role. SJ, White, Hollis looked good. The backs spent more time in the slot than I recall from last year.
-A lot of young/new players on defense look like they have improved. George, Morgan, Bennett are good in space. If there were 4-levels to a defense Morgan and Bennett belong in the 3rd-level. Did not notice the safeties much, probably due to the wind. Washington, Broomfield, Jansen, Brooks, Givens all look the part.
