Spring ‘22 Prospectus

Thanks for posting that!

Just re-upped for 2022 football season tickets and Cyclone Club. With all the talent we've lost from last year's team, I'm sure the "experts" will have low expectations for next season. But with our amazing staff, it's gonna be fun watching this new group of players blow those expectations out of the water!

I was expecting the rumors that Jake Remsburg was still hurt all last year to be confirmed when the coaches started having media availabilities. Nice to see it right off the bat.

Lots and lots of other nuggets there.

With A Johnson it must mean he's a good college corner but probably a pro level safety?

Darien Porter would be interesting, would be one of the tallest corners in college football. Maybe someone as a nickel to cover TEs or super tall WR targets?

I was watching the NFL combine and one of the analysts made a good point as the wide receivers were putting up insane 40 times. Most of the really fast guys are pushed to play WR in high school and college. There seems to be a void of really athletic, fast cornerbacks. There's opportunity there for some really athletic speed guys to make the switch to CB early on in college and possibly turn themselves into NFL players. There is starting to be a surplus of fast, 5'-11"-6'-0" wide receivers and only so many spots to go around. We might start seeing a reduction in their value much like we have with running backs.

These are strong points.

It is also interesting to me the premium the NFL now puts on the Jamarr Chase type WR who goes about 6"00 200 lbs. A decade ago the league was all about tall gazelles who could leap at 6"4, seems now the league has trended back to shorter shiftier guys at WR.

I think one way where the college game changing will precede the NFL - like when college went spread 12 years ago, and then years later the NFL went spread.

*I think the power run smash mouth will make a college comeback and soon. We have the perfect weather environment for it and hope we do that. We also have the right recruiting infrastructure to do it.

Anthony Johnson officially trying safety, Darien Porter to corner.

Among other very cool stuff.

Really cool prospectus. Alot of good info! Is this new?

What's really neat is that by all accounts we should be down/saddened by all the seniors, etc. we lost last year. I think most of us are actually really excited about the team we have coming back! The young players, the players who now will get their turn, and the maybe unexpected return of the 'super seniors' are going to make for a very entertaining and fun season. We hope anyway.

What I meant is have they put one of these out each year with Campbell? This is the first I've seen a nice 'prospectus' like this.

I'm not sure if they've ever put out something like this with all of the info together. But in past years they've put up articles by position on cyclones.com that were pretty much the same as what's in this.

I agree, I remember thinking when watching Collin Klein have success in a spread pass happy league with non physical defenses, why can’t we do that? It puts less of a premium on the type of player we couldn’t recruit.

Lo and behold we did it with CMC. Big physical backs, big tightends etc. Now I wish we would get more road graders up front.

I think the argument could be made to go power run with Hunter Dekkers. But with his arm talent I think the argument could also be made to go spread pass happy. We won’t be predictable.

The Prospectus does not identify scholarship players, understandably so. I am trying to figure out where we stand. I count 70 scholarships on campus now. Then I see 13 more coming this Summer. So I think we still have a couple. I counted Rus as scholarship. I can't recall if he is yet, but I expect he will be.
Here is what I came up with, feel free to correct me. Wish we had an accurate Scholarship Chart somewhere:

On Campus: (Alphabetical)
1. MJ Anderson 2. Michal Antoine Jr. 3. Rocco Becht 4. Aidan Bitter
5. Jim Bonifas 6. Aidan Bouman 7. Jirehl Brock 8. Howard Brown
9. Mason Chambers 10. Easton Dean 11. Hunter Dekkers 12. Trevor Downing
13. Jacob Ellis 14. Beau Freyler 15. Greg Gaines III 16. Nate Glantz
17. DeShawn Hanika 18. Koby Hathcock 19. Trevon Howard 20. Jarrod Hufford
21. Xavier Hutchinson 22. Jacob Imming 23. Daniel Jackson 24. Anthony Johnson Jr.
25. Tayvonn Kyle 26. Isaiah Lee 27. Tyler Maro 28. Craig McDonald
29. Will McDonald IV 30. Will McLaughlin 31. Myles Mendeszoon 32. Tristan Michaud
33. D.J. Miller Jr. 34. Tyler Miller 35. Tyler Moore 36. Jordyn Morgan
37. James Neal 38. Jaylin Noel 39. Cartevious Norton 40. Tyler Onyedim
41. Domonique Orange 42. Hayden Pauls 43. Cole Pedersen 44. Brady Petersen
45. Joey Petersen 46. Blake Peterson 47. Darien Porter 48. Myles Purchase
49. Aidan Ralph 50. Colby Reeder 51. Jake Remsburg 52. Sam Rengert
53. Zach Ross 54. Jared Rus 55. Eli Sanders 56. Dodge Sauser
57. Sean Shaw Jr. 58. Deon Silas 59. Darrell Simmons Jr. 60. J.R. Singleton
61. Anthony Smith 62. T.J. Tampa 63. Grant Treiber 64. O’Rien Vance
65. Gerry Vaughn 66. Malik Verdon 67. Carson Willich 68. Darren Wilson Jr.
69. Johnny Wilson 70. Hunter Zenzen

New this Fall: (Per 247Sports)
71. Hunter Deyo 72. Andrew Keller 73. Jason Essex 74. Ikenna Ezeogu
75. Quaron Adams 76. Jeremiah Cooper 77. Deylin Hasert 78. Gabe Burkle
79. Terrell Crosby 80. Tommy Hamann 81. Tyler Perkins 82. Jontez Williams
83. Dimitri Stanley

As a side note, living in Omaha I heard on the radio I understand NU has 91 scholarships committed as of now. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say.

With the addition of Stanley we are at 85, I believe.
After Stanley, we still added Oluwafunto Akinshilo and Myles Norwood. By my count, that puts us at 85. We also added that QB from Kansas University, Conrad Hawley, but he must be a walk on. Wow, we have a lot of QBs. And no one is going to beat out Dekkers, Becht or Kohl. Actually, I don't see Hawley on the roster, so I guess for now we have 5 QBs, not so terrible I guess.

EDIT: 247 shows Hawley as a football transfer to ISU, but he is actually on the basketball team.
